COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged in bourbon whiskey barrels to add a wonderful complexity to our massive American Double Imperial Stout. This barrel aging imparts memorable buttery, vanilla-like, and savory whiskey character, making this one of our most complex beers we’ve ever brewed. Another testament to our hard work and dedication in bringing our customers the very best.

Bottle @ Beertempel. Pours pitch black with a dark brown head. Looks stunning! The aroma is very smokey whiskey forward with some more smooth Doris notes behind that. Roasted coffee, espresso, dark dried fruits, chocolate and vanilla. The taste is also very whiskey forward but then you get the more creamy notes from the original beer - Coffee, vanilla, chocolate, and dark dried fruits. This gives it a decent balance. I really like the punch that the barrel aging contributes to this beer! Smooth and full body!

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2014 600cl bottle served in a snifter. Pours thick and black with a brown head which is the darkest I have ever seen) but does not last too long. Aroma is vanilla, bourbon and dark chocolate. Taste is all of these flavours with even more extremeness. A reasonable bitterness to follow these indulgent flavours and a mouthfeel that is so thick that the runs down the outside of the glass didn’t complete their journey before they had solidified into a black river down the glass. Lovely.

Pour is jet black with a dark mocha head. Nose is strong bourbon with notes of booze and lighter wood. Heavy malts, notes of brown sugar and caramel, hints of chocolate and a touch of cake. Taste is much sweeter, bourbon isn’t as strong and chocolate cake is mixed with berry sugar. Body is heavy and a touch syrupy, carbonation and good with a dry finish.

Pour pitch black, with no head and an oily brown hue. Aroma is filled with licorice, dark bitter chocolate, slight roasted coffee, plenty of barrel - even with some almost sour oaky tannins things going on. Taste is slightly sweet, with a heavy dose of bitterness. Dry and bitter in the end. Oily n’ semi full bodied, with a flat but pricking carbonation. Hot Stuff.. (In more ways than one)

Almost black beer with some dark brown head. It’s aroma and taste have coffee, whisky, some chocolate and alcohol notes, maybe some vanilla, as well. Amazing beer!

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aromas of vanilla chocolate. Taste is bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate. Finishes boozy... Not bad, but somehow disappointing.
