Aged in bourbon whiskey barrels to add a wonderful complexity to our massive American Double Imperial Stout. This barrel aging imparts memorable buttery, vanilla-like, and savory whiskey character, making this one of our most complex beers we’ve ever brewed. Another testament to our hard work and dedication in bringing our customers the very best.

Bottle courtesy of goryshkewych. Cheers, George! Pours an inky/ motor oil black with a dark tan head. Beautiful color for a stout. Nose is roast, earth, black coffee, earth, some booze, and hints of baker’s chocolate. Flavor is similar with earth, roast, booze, some unsweet chocolate, and bits of woody booze. So thick that I almost don’t get any barrel, it presents itself in the background, but in a very complimentary fashion. Medium to full in body for a BA stout and very nice overall.

Tief malziger Antrunk mit leichten Lakritznoten und deutlichem Espressoaroma. Mild herb, dann sehr bitterschokoladig, vollmundig, Whiskeynoten. Die vorhandene Röstigkeit ist im Hintergrund aktiv. Vanille, nie alkoholisch. Sehr gut! 9/14/12/14/13/14

(Bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Nov 6 2014) International Stout Day treat! Pours black with a moderate dark tan head that faded quickly without lace. Aroma had loads of dark chocolate, some wood with vanilla, moderate amounts of sweet bourbon and hints of coffee. On the palate, a big rich core of baker’s chocolate like a brownie or something, holding some buttery wood/vanilla/toasted coconut barrel character, and not terribly much bourbon to start. The whiskey builds through the sip to the finish though along with a bit of coffee roast, but all the previous flavour elements linger as well, making for a complex, rich finish that goes on and on. Sweetish at first but not cloying, finishes fairly dry and lightly bitter with a bit of alcohol heat. Big creamy smooth mouthfeel from some oatmeal, soft carbonation. Super after-dinner imperial stout, like that the barrel wasn’t too heavy handed and let all that chocolate form the core of the beer. Very nice overall, quite enjoyed this one.

650ml bottle bought online. Smell is mostly bourbon. Appearance is jet black with a quickly evaporating head. Taste is dark chocolate, followed by bourbon and alcohol warmth with a vanilla finish. Silky smooth and a great replacement for dessert after dinner.
