COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged in bourbon whiskey barrels to add a wonderful complexity to our massive American Double Imperial Stout. This barrel aging imparts memorable buttery, vanilla-like, and savory whiskey character, making this one of our most complex beers we’ve ever brewed. Another testament to our hard work and dedication in bringing our customers the very best.

22 ounce bottle, no dating on the bottle or label that could. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch brown head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma, the brew smells like burnt/charred malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, and some whiskey. For the most part I think the taste is pretty similar to the aroma, but there’s also the addition of vanilla, woodiness and molasses. Mouthfeel/body is full, it’s slick, creamy and smooth with low/moderate carbonation. It’s certainly easy enough to drink! I liked this a lot, but at $15.99 a bomber it’s a bit pricey. Glad I got to try this, it’s definitely worth picking up.

22 oz bottle. Almost black with a brief, spongy tan head. Nose is tarry chocolate, molasses, espresso and prune with a nicely restrained touch of bourbon. Medium to full body with soft carb. Taste is dark caramel, bourbon, prune, wood and licorice. Good balance of bold flavors; drinks lighter than its ABV.

Thick oily black beer, brown head. Aroma of coffee, whiskey, vanilla and sweet roasted malt, nice. Tastes really awesome and rich, with vanilla, coffee, heavy bourbon, dark cacao and a buttery touch. Really long and evolving taste, it just keeps going on. Amazing, this is true greatness.

(22oz bomber) jet black, as thick as any beer I’ve seen, dark tan head. Nose of whiskey, dark chocolate, American hops, very roasty. Taste is roasty, high cacao content dark chocolate, American hops that are moderately bitter, well balanced by the bourbon. Thick body, dark chocolate linger.

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, alcohol, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, oak and molasses. Taste is heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, chocolate, coffee, vanilla and oak finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap at the tap room. Black in the glass, with a dense finger thick tan head. It’s a tad boozy on the nose, with lots of mocha. Dark chocolate, coffee, resiny hops, brown sugar and some licorice too. It’s heavy on the palate, full bodied smooth and warming, with flavors of molasses, mocha and roasted malts. Some booze. Lasting roasted, sweet and warming finish. Nice indeed, but I think I prefer the regular edition. 150616

On tap at the brewery. Pours jet black with a big brown head. Aroma is of roasted malt, wood, bourbon, oatmeal, and chocolate. Taste is huge on the bourbon and oak. There. Is also lots of oatmeal, chocolate, and dark fruit. Has a hop flavor that comes through after a few sips. Has a roasted malt backbone. Mouthfeel is thick and sticky. Body is heavy and sticky. Drinks very easy, and the alcohol is well masked. Just delicious.
