Bottle split at Bruce’s, thanks to Daniel, 06/03/15. Pitch black with a dirty tan covering that dissipates edgeward. Nose is rich dark fruits, spice, bourbon tones, molasses, dark chocolate. Taste comprises charr, earthy rost, dates, raisens, spice, molasses, bourbon, burnt biscuit, chocolate, liquorice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Ok impy, a touch harsh and not that well joined up for me at times.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s. Picked this up in 2013, 10.5%. Thick black pour, small ring of brown head. The beer leaves a brown film on the glass. Aroma is soft vanilla, molasses, treacle, chocolate. Body is medium to big, smooth, a touch of carbonation. Taste is sweet, tangy barrel character, vanilla, molasses, twiggy oatmeal, dry finish with a little salt. Nice.

Bottle thanks to Daniel. It pours jet black with a tiny tan head. The nose is rich, oily, chocolate cake, vanilla, nougat, vanilla, bourbon, charred wood and alcohol. The taste is smooth, rich roast, dark chocolate, earth, bourbon, warming alcohol, toasty, charred wood, tar, ashy, bitter hit, some astringency, tobacco and umami with a dry finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Pretty drying and charry. I can see why others would really like this a lot. Solid anyhow.

Tastes really awesome and rich, with vanilla, coffee, heavy bourbon, dark cacao and a buttery touch. Really long and evolving taste, it just keeps going on. Amazing, this is true greatness.

In bottle, picked up direct from BOE shop/warehouse, Kings Lynn. Fin, Loz, Ang’ and Julio’ shared this at Moncada brewery, Friday 6th February 2015 Coffee and oatmeal show first of all. Wow this is super smooth, it’s rich, indulgent, totally sumptuous. Some warmth from the BA, but that is to be expected. Pleasant nose not too much bourbon. Creamy, soft mouthfeel, lots of cappuccino. I love this, it’s a superb beer. Btw it’s thick jet black in colour with a mid sized beige head. A8 A5 T9 P5 Ov16 4.3.
