Tief malziger Antrunk mit leichten Lakritznoten und deutlichem Espressoaroma. Mild herb, dann sehr bitterschokoladig, vollmundig, Whiskeynoten. Die vorhandene Röstigkeit ist im Hintergrund aktiv. Vanille, nie alkoholisch. Sehr gut! 9/14/12/14/13/14

(Bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Nov 6 2014) International Stout Day treat! Pours black with a moderate dark tan head that faded quickly without lace. Aroma had loads of dark chocolate, some wood with vanilla, moderate amounts of sweet bourbon and hints of coffee. On the palate, a big rich core of baker’s chocolate like a brownie or something, holding some buttery wood/vanilla/toasted coconut barrel character, and not terribly much bourbon to start. The whiskey builds through the sip to the finish though along with a bit of coffee roast, but all the previous flavour elements linger as well, making for a complex, rich finish that goes on and on. Sweetish at first but not cloying, finishes fairly dry and lightly bitter with a bit of alcohol heat. Big creamy smooth mouthfeel from some oatmeal, soft carbonation. Super after-dinner imperial stout, like that the barrel wasn’t too heavy handed and let all that chocolate form the core of the beer. Very nice overall, quite enjoyed this one.

650ml bottle bought online. Smell is mostly bourbon. Appearance is jet black with a quickly evaporating head. Taste is dark chocolate, followed by bourbon and alcohol warmth with a vanilla finish. Silky smooth and a great replacement for dessert after dinner.

Bottle... Pours tar-black with no head, but a huge swirl of the glass leaves a thick, brown, oily coating. The bouquet is a mélange of fudge, brownie brittle and bourbon barrel booziness. The flavor is a bitch-slap of bakers’ chocolate, burnt malts and ashen notes with an undercurrent of blackstrap molasses. Finishes acrid, scorched, red-hot and bitter. Bottle courtesy of darkguardian!

Catching up ratings..........Pours very dark with a very small tan head, but had a slightly watery look to it and seemedthin for a stout. Aroma was whiskey, vanilla, caramel, dark fruits, coffee beans, and toasty malts. Taste showcased the whiskey from the barrel aging. It wasn’t overpowering, but it stood out. Caramel, coffee, and dark cherry were in the background. Medium to full body (more on the full side if it was less watery). This was very good and glad I finally got to try it.

Bottle. Pours near black in color with a tan head. Lots of roasted notes, coffee and dark chocolate, some vanilla and sweet brown syrupy notes in aroma too. Dark fruityness and hints of vinousness appears later on. Wooden oakyness mixed with vanilla spicy notes in taste at first. After that there appears some dark chocolate and cocoa bitters blended with some coffee. Nice smooth and rich mouthfeel. Some dark syrup sweetness mixed with vanilla bourbon and vinous notes in the end. Very intensive bourbon in finish, but as it’s quite smooth it feels just right. Good one, better than the regular destroyer I would say.
