(bottle - 22 oz - 2012 vintage) Dark copper pour with a thin white head. Huge spice and caramel aroma. Lots of caramel and a very mild spice in the flavor, and I was pretty sure I could detect some coconut hints in there as well. Big malt bomb with some light spice.

PvW bottle. The pour is a light brown, lighter than I was expecting. The aroma is all holiday spice. The taste is a perfect blend or spice and bourbon. I get a lot of cinnamon. Very impressed with this beer, whether holiday or not.

Elég ha elcsípünk pár illatmolekulát a bohókás karácsonyi címkéjű üvegben szunnyadó főzet kitöltése során, s tudni fogjuk: a tengerentúlon értenek hozzá, hogyan kell tartalommal megtölteni a "karácsonyi sör" kifejezést. Nem tudom megállni, hogy ne említsem ehelyütt a Play-Doh játékgyurma semmivel össze nem téveszthető illatát, amit ebben sörben a fahéj, szegfűszeg, szerecsendió keblünkre ölelhető aromái képeznek le. Napokig elszaglászhatnánk az italt, betelni akkor sem tudnánk vele. Isteni scotch benyomások, a whiskey-hordóban történő érlelés legjavát nyújtják a kezdeti pikáns zamatok. Sütőtökös pite, bejgli, dió, mazsola ünnepi hangulatai járják be szánknak minden egyes szegletét, páratlanul izgalmas kortyok által megfestett, fűszeresen vibráló ünnepi ínyencségként ejti rabul ízlelőbimbóinkat.

Bottle (2013 - Silver Cap)... Clear brown pour with ruby highlights and no head. The lush, malty aroma is heavy on the cinnamon and nutmeg with an undercurrent of other spice rack excellence. Medium to full-bodied with lazy carbonation. The flavor furnishes caramel and toffee sweetness interwoven with cinnamon and nutmeg spiciness. Finishes bittersweet and, of course, spice-rack spicy. Very enjoyable. The barrel really helps this beer. Bottle courtesy of darkguardian!

65 cl bottle @ home. Pours hazy brown with quite a bit of sediment and an off-white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma and flavour are cinnamon, coconut, chocolate, and caramel - with a dry finish.

Bottle shared at 4th of July BBQ (Lyons, IL). The Pappy Version. Pours a darker brownish ruby hue, copper fiery glow on the edges with some decent haziness in the middle that tapers out. Frothy offwhite head atop stays as a mellow layer, decent lacing and stick around. Aromas show pie spice, cinnamon and firmer ginger meet caramel, touches of caramel, oak and vanillin. Gentle clove and nutmeg meet some whiskey warmth a touch sweet but enjoyable. Initial is a pretty potent mélange of holiday spirit. Touches of cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg meet gentle vanilla, pie spice and caramel show some oomph into the body. Toffee and gentle smoothed out spirit elements work well together. Middle shows a bit more depth, the barrel on full display with vanilla, oak, touches of gingersnaps meeting gentle toasty coconut, some toffee and toastiness. Backend is where this gets a bit warm and harsher, the smoothed out front loses it’s refinement. Finish is dry, a bit warm and spicy as we finish. An interesting beer that certainly offers some enjoyable flavors albeit a bit much for me beyond the small sampling.
