Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured hazy reddish brown color with an average fforhty white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex bourbon, nutmeg and spice aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy spicy bourbon flavor with a medium sweet spicy finish of moderate to long duration. This is good complex seasonal brew.

Bottle courtesy of jale. Amyliz4 very much appreciated it. Served in a mini snifter. Reviewed from notes. Pours a fairly-dark brown color with a nice off-white head with a bit of lacing on the way down. The nose carries a good dosing of bourbon plus plenty of cinnamon and spice. Much better integrated than the non-barrel aged version. Flavor falls along the same lines -- bourbon out front with a bit of underlying spice. Medium body with a smoothness to it. Good spice and booze. Tasty.

Bottle Thanks! To Phil!! Aromas nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. Flavors of gingerbread cookie dunked in bourbon. Overall it’s fantastic!

Pours a murky brown with a thin tan head. Aroma has whiskey and cinnamon with mild oaky vanilla notes. Flavor is dominated by cinnamon...malty roastiness is present before turning to an oaky whiskey flavor. Mouthfeel is medium and very lively...finish is spicy with cinnamon and dry with a hint of whiskey.

Pours dark ruby brown with a nice 1/2" thick beige head. Smells of nutmeg, cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla, oak and touch of raisin, it reminds me of french toast and a hint of booze. The flavors are nicely balanced and the barrel isn’t over bearing. Cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla, raisin, slight cherry note and some booze. Palate is medium and it finishes spicy but well rounded with a nice vanilla notes from the barrel aging.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark red-brown color with a medium sized orange-tan head that left some lacing. The aroma was strong cinnamon, nutmeg and candied ginger. The flavor was sweet cinnamon, nutmeg and candied ginger with a malty and nutty middle followed by more spice that fairly overwhelmed the taste buds. The finish was long nutty and spicy. Fairly full bodied. Solid.

22oz bottle (2010). Rating #37 and my 2000th rating! Nice looking beer, clear dark reddish/brown color with a tan head. Big sweet spicy aromas, lots of nutmeg and cinnamon with some ginger maybe, very potent and quite enticing. Lots of holiday flavors, more cinnamon and a good amount of bourbon and wood, really nice stuff, might be good mulled. (2000)

22oz traded bottle from 2010 at Chad and Monica’s house. Pretty tasty overall. Big cinnamon and nutmeg in the aroma but I thought it was tamed in the flavor; a little vanilla and booze from the barrels. Very nice and drinkable.

From the bottle, a dark, transparent amber. Smells spicy and sweet. Tastes the same, with caramels. Too thinly bodied. Some fantastic brewers make a misstep, and this one is Hoppin’ Frog’s.
