Commercial Description:
Our IPA and Stout converge for a really great flavor combination to create a rich and robust black & tan. The assertive hoppy character of our Hoppin to Heaven IPA is perfectly complimented by the intense deep roasted flavor of our BORIS Oatmeal Imperial Stout. Two great tastes that taste even better together.

Black in color with a thin khaki head. The nose begins with the hops, grapefruit with a touch of pine and then turns to dark chocolate, roasted coffee and anise. In the mouth the flavors from the nose mix together in this medium-bodied beer with good carbonation. While interesting and more complex, I prefer the IPA & Stout separately.

[Bottled. Thx ekstedt] Pitch black with a beige head. Slightly sourish aroma with a lot of sweet fruits and some coconut. Chocoltae and fruits in abundance with dark sugar. Smooth and soft mouthfeel with pretty high bitterness.

Bomber. Rich black color with a thick, creamy tan head. Huge roasty aroma with black licorice. This actually tastes a lot like a nice baltic porter to me. Flavors of brown sugar, molasses, a hint of smoke and meat with understated hoppy bitterness. It leaves my mouth feeling warm and sticky. This is some delicious stuff.

Found this bottle at EZ so I had to try it. very interesting idea....Pours out black with a small to moderate light brown head. Aroma is an interesting blend of citrus hops, chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is once again an interesting blend of styles, big hop notes blend with chocolate and roasted malts. Seems like the idea for this one came after a night of drinking and having the two beers that make this one sitting on the counter next to a glass.

similar appearance to boris, but the head is overwhelming where boris’ is minimal. pretty big hops in the nose, some yeast it seems and little roast. also a bit metallic. flavor is bitter and spicy, more IPA then stout but by no means a straight forward hops flavor. very interesting but not sure if id come back to this. metallic flavor returns to the palate after a bit as well.

22 oz. bottle shared by Gregis at my tasting on 3/7/08. Roasty malt, lactose, and floral hops in the nose. Taste is mild roast and floral and earthy hops. Interesting. Thanks for bringing this Greg.
