Not a standard "Black and Tan", but pretty good for what it was. ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 30, 2007 Bottle from kryptic. Aroma of Sweet malt (almost wood) blended quite nicely with some floral and citrus hops. Pours dark, rich browh with a thick khaki head. Flavor is quite unique for an ASA. Not the usual sweet sticky malt and pine hops. More along the lines of rich, dry, chocolate malt, bitter chocolate and citrus hops. Medium to full bodied. Very interesting take on the ASA style. Aroma is moslty hoppy with a light roast and chocolate hint cutting through- almost turns into a floral stale cold coffee rinds. Light sweetness in teh flavor followed by more floral and citrusy hops- with nuts, chocolate and hints of roasted and black barley. Relatively smooth and a nice roasty bitterness balanced by hop bitterness. Pretty good. elektronikfagtekniker (892), kbh, Denmark

Poured dark brown with a thick layer of rich tan foam. Hoppy and roasty? Yum, yum gimme some. Wow, this was fantastic, I wish thnat I had not traded my other bottle. Thick and rich with loads of roasted malts, this is above and beyond most of the over done ASA’s out there. WeeHeavySD (3044), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

Pours like a stout, dark black with a big big 2-3 finger head. The nose is really nice, hoppy but with a balanced hop vibe. Taste is really nice big boris on the front with a nice ipa on the back. Wondering if this would have been better balanced with an imperial ipa to go with the imperial sout. That said I really like this.
