Bottle. Pours an extremely dark brown with a very small head. Nose is rather hoppy with the large IPA base. Taste is just a tad sweet and also a little bitter. A little roasting in there, too.

Poured from a bomber. Pours a darker brown with a thin khaki colored head of foam. Aroma is fairly hop forward with fruity notes dominating a smooth malty oaty backbone. Taste is a lot like a black IPA in bitterness and roasty notes, but also like a nice cup of coffee on the verge of smoky fruity notes. Very nice.

Botella. Color negro con espuma beige duradera y persistente. Aroma cafe, pan y roasted. En boca es mas stout que ipa, con un agradable final lupulado. Buen equilibrio entre ipa y stout

Pours a very dark brown color with a small brown head that lingers a long time. Nice aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, molasses, and coffee with hints of citrus, grapefruit, cherries, and spiciness. Taste is slightly sweet, a little roasted coffee and chocolate. Hops hit softly late with some citrus and spiciness. Long, moderately bitter finish. Leaves spice and chocolate on the tongue. Thin mouthfeel and pretty smooth. Would like a little more body to it but it has a really good flavor. An interesting beer for sure that I will go back to sometime. I hope more breweries try these kinds of mixes in the future.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Alexus (238) - Stavanger, NORWAY - NOV 1, 2012
Bottle @ Melkebaren, Sandnes. Pours black with a smal tan head. It’s not difficult to detect that this is a Hoppin Frog ale. All though it consists of 66% IPA and 33% stout, the stout really dominates the aroma and flavors. The IPA backs it all up with a nice bitterness, and some freshness to the whole picture. Strong aromas of leather, licorice, dark chocolate. Similar to BORIS in fact. A really great ale! But one glass is more than enough and last a while.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ozzak (40) - BERGEN, NORWAY - OCT 15, 2012
Black color. Light brown head.
Hop aroma towards dried citrus and pine.
Taste is much of the same, combined with some vinous notes as well. Getting a hint of licorice towards the end.
Quite enjoyable.
