Sampled at an esbls tasting. Side by side with boris. Big and black. So smooth compared to boris. Such rich malt. A really good beer and quite distinct from boris.

Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours black with no head at all and an intense musty chocolate and plum aroma. There is a rich chocolate and dark fruit flavor with a dry finish and a warming alcohol trail.

Big bottle at OleRs great garden session, shared with fellow ratebeerians. Oily pour, filmy patches at the surface. The body is black as pitch. Dark malty nose added by a touch of basement and ripe fruits. Vanilla oak and earthy malts in flavour, bourbon, cocoa and oat, as well. Rounded aftertaste with bittersweet roastiness. Very pleasing (Stovner, 25.05.2012).

22oz bottle 6/2/12 (Binny’s Naperville) 51° in Snifter-Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, sweetness, coffee, and slight dried fruit. Taste of the same with some more sweetness, choclate, and coffee. This full bodied brew is a bit different but still awesome. Great brew.

22 oz. bottle via trade with bittermestupid - Pours a dark brown color with a 2/3 finger thick tan head. Aroma is toasted malt, playdough, and light chocolate. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, and dark esters. Chocolate lingers in the finish. Alcohol is noticeable, but not overbearing. A good beer. Thanks Greg.

Barely any head; what’s there is brown. Opaque black body. Earthy chocolatey aroma with soy sauce notes. Dry-sweet earthy roasty linoleum taste with alcohol notes. Fullish body. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish soy sauce and chocolate aftertaste with burnt earthy vanilla fudge notes. Really nice and harmonic. (0.65l bottle shared by Ole_R.)

Bottle shared at my 30:th birthday tasting on May 5 (30 år av Surt). Bottle bought @ Ølbutikken. Pours oily pitch black with a very small chocolate brown head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace. Smell is sweet, fruity and tiny salty with prunes, raisins, chocolate, coffee, dark grapes, wood, roasted malts, dark sweet bread and alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, salty and tiny metallic with dark bread, salty liquorice, burnt caramel, bitter chocolate, coffee, alcohol and orange peal. Mouthfeel is tiny sticky sweet, very tiny tart and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with coffee, roasted malts, salty liquorice and dark bread.

Thanks to Enjoyit! Pours black with a dark brown head. Aroma is dark sweet fruits, chocolate, vanilla, fudge, coffee, caramel, liquorice, brown sugar and a hint of alcohol. Taste is salty liquorice, caramel, brown sugar, dark sweet fruits, vanilla, coffee, dark malts and some alcohol. Like the regular better, but this is pretty good too!

Bottle from Enjoyit. Dee black pour, quickly dissipating brown head. Aroma is very sweet malty, lots of chocolate, caramel (sidste skoledagskarameller, de brune), cocoa nibs, very sweet from the English malts. Taste has dark chocolate, roasted malts, lots of sweetness, same caramel thing foing, cocoa, dark fruits, but over all very sweet. Give me regular boris.

Bottle at "30 år av surt", on May 5, 2012 in Göteborg. Brune foncée, col léger moka. Arôme chocolaté, caramel avec un très profond bouquet de choco. En bouche, malt, chocolat et caramel, note sucrée? palais laissant qcq picotements, alcool réchauffant avec une pointe de houblon et amertume en fin de bouche. Le tout sur un palais poudreux, qcq fruits noirs, chocolat noir, le tout donnant un léger côté collant aux lèvres.

Tasting at Dak’s. From Boltz?? Pours dark brown with an espresso head. Aroma of dark fruits, cocoa, oat. Taste is sweet with a little bit of roast. Full bodied and sticky. Good stuff!
