Wow! Black as used engine oil, and about as viscous. Strikingly similar to FBS, just a little boozier. Roasty and bitter but smells like a bowl full of oatmeal. Delicious!

On tap at Beer Temple. Black, brown head. Aroma of coffee, hard roasted malts, chocolate, laurel, liquorice, moccha, sweet. Flavour is sweet, hard roasted malts, hops, chocolate, moccha, laurel, sweet and hard roasted bitter finish. Medium to full-bodied, soft carbonation. Had some Yeti-qualities imo. Good.

Draught@Viisi Penniä. Black color, tan head. Oaky aroma with vanilla and chocolate. Velvety flavor with sublime chocolaty notes, coffee and licorice. Very full body, light carbonation. Excellent example of the style.

Bottle @ Viisi Penniä, Helsinki. Poured black as oil with a thin brown head. Aroma has oatmeal, alcohol, roasted malt and lots of dark fruity notes. Flavor has oat, roasted malt, raisins and licorice. Long finish with dark chocolate lingering forever in the mouth. Fullbodied, very oily mouthfeel. Expected it to be smoother than it actually was.

Bomber pours a thick opaque very dark brown with a small and vanishing light brown head. Aroma is quite complex with coffee, chocolate, raisins, plums, smoky burnt/roasted malts all present. Mouthfeel is between creamy and oily. Body is full without very much carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. Taste is on the sweet side with a drier finish. This is a very good example of a favorite style of mine, to be enjoyed slowly. It gets better as it warms up.

Bottle. Sweet and coffe aromas. Pours realy dark, opaque, with thin tan head, quickly disipating. Full bodied, poor carbonation. Tastes caramel, coffe and sweet flavors. Very long roasty finish. A really nice Imperial Stout, quite sweet, very tasty.

Tasted on 4/27/12 from a capped 650mL bomber bottle purchased at Binny’s South Loop. This has a sticker on it that says it was cellared for over one year, and I purchased it in 2010, so I assume this was bottled sometime in 2009. Pours an oily, nearly black, dark brown with a thin cascading brown head that slowly recedes to a thin collar of lace. The nose is milk chocolate, molasses, and raisin prune juice along with some dark chocolate, coffee, and a bit of an ashy burnt aroma. The flavor is pretty much the same with the sweeter molasses, vanilla, and milk chocolate up front, moving to the more roasted dark chocolate, coffee, and that same ashy burnt thing. The body is full and creamy with light carbonation and a long ashy burnt, dark chocolate, and bitter coffee finish.
