Jet black pour w/ a huge thick creamy nice lacing dark brown oatmeal looking head. Big roasty malty aroma tons of roast malts some light chocolates a good amount of coffee and notes of alcohol. Hints of vanilla start to form at warmer temperatures. Palate is big thick and creamy. The flavor is a buttery chocolate finishing w/ a lightly bitter blend of coffee and coccoa powder some hints of vanilla and lost more chocolates. There is even a touch of plum in there. Seriously delicious.

Bomber. Pours opaque with one of the darkest brown heads I’ve seen, cool. Awesome aroma- big vanilla, dough, light hops, roasted malt. Delicate and unique. Taste is mildly sour, moving into fruitiness, huge roasted malts, robust chocolate. Long tasty finish. Fantastic stout! Thanks Nick!

Ok so it’s nine degrees outside, there’s even a wind chill advisory...I think this calls for an impy stout and MAN...do I think I picked the right one. This stuff pours oily black with a solid mocha head, as dark and rich as anyone would want their impy stout to look. The aroma holds some nice aspects of molasses, licorice, dark chocolate...some vinous elements and some slight hints of coffee. The flavors are a bit different though... coffee and dark chocolate elements come out quite strong...some roasted malts...a tinge of booze...some very light vinous notes as well. Thick body with a slight over carbonation with a nice combonation of vinous/fruity and roasty elements all the way through to the bittersweet and very long roasty finish...really...the finish is spectacular. Pretty good stuff overall, though I’m not such a big fan of some of the fruit/licorice notes..despite that a really awesome brew.

Wow, after my second bottled sampling of this beer, I feel I should rate it. This is the best Imperial Stout i’ve had in awhile and i’m esprecially impressed by how good this is at its bright, young age. The color is dark, the darkest beer I’ve seen in awhile. Tremendous body. Fairly nice nose. Amazing flavor of chocolate and coffee, but there is also an inordinate, but graceful amount of fruit flavor going on. A really, really good beer!

Pours black, with a small, brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and oak. Flavors are roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, smoke, and some dark fruit. Body is wonderfully creamy. Thanks to OhioDad for this bottle.

22oz bottle: Opaque black color with tiny very dark maroon/brown head that quickly dissipates. Aroma has lots of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, bit of vanilla, very faint notes of cherry, oak, and burbon. Flavor is malty, fair amount of roasted malts, creamy, bit of vanilla, with a relatively sweet finish. Definitely good, but not quite as amazing as some have made it out to be.

BORIS starts so big you wonder if it’ll be a palate crusher...but it remains complex and powerful to the syrupy, chocolatey, caramely end. It’s a heavy imperial--the kind that commands your attention...sipped this one by the fire, sans distractions...an experience to recommend.

Bottle thanks to OhioDad! Poured a higher-viscosity deep deep brown with a deep caramel head that rises and recedes quickly to form a dusting and loose-bubbled ring. The aroma is where this brew really shines! Deeply-roasted and smoke-kissed darker chocolate, molasses, burnt coffee, a touch of vanilla, and licorice dance brilliantly together across the nose. The flavor holds nothing back either, with smoky chocolate and coffee, subtle, but well-placed pine bitterness at the edges and tip of the tongue, burnt molasses and licorice accents, and coffee bitterness and warmth through the long and satisfying deep, roasty, and warm finish. Full-bodied and enjoyable all the way through the sticky finish. Fantastic!
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ehhdayton (1188) - USA - FEB 2, 2007
Pours a thick, rich, dark brown, almost bordering on black, with a creamy deep tan head. The aroma is rich with roasted coffe, dark fruit, and chocolate. A complex array of flavors greet the tongue including, coffee, roasted and chocolate malt, plum, and smoke. The stout is full bodied and coats the mouth at the finish. One of the best stouts to try.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2007 22 oz bomber courtesy of BigErn. Pours to a jet black color, with a thick, creamy, tan head, and a moderate carbonation. The nose on this beer is awesome, with big aromas of cocca, dark chocolate, mild roast, and piney hops. The palate is oily and viscious on the tongue, with big, robust flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, coca, roast, and more chocolate. The oatmeal makes this beer silky and creamy as it goes down. BORIS The Crusher finishes with more wonderful dark chocolate, coffee, and roasty flavors up front, then ends with a good piney hop bite that lingers. Very robust, very flavorful, very drinkable Imperial Stout. It hides its 9.4% abv very well, so beware. A wonderful sipping brew, and an idea match to rich deserts, I found BORIS The Crusher to be one impressive beer.
