3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. viscous dark pour with only a hint of mocha head. My wife's reaction is pretty much spot on: "this tastes like a truck stop. Ash, beef jerky, metallic, roasty" Also, unsweetened Chocolate, roast, cardboard. Taste: moderately sweet, chalky roast finish. Palate: Medium body, slick chalky texture. Overall: okay, but not really special or memorable for me.

Really dark body with a brown head. Did not last long. Dark chocolate and coffee aroma. I think I can smell some carob in there too. Taste is chocolate and coffee again. Creamy and smooth. I like it.

Bottle picked up at Olbuttikken and shared at the first Kinki Beer Tasting. Unfortunately, this was at the end of the tasting so we probably couldn’t appreciate it that much. A dark brownish-black beer with a boozy malty chocolate aroma. The medium-full body was boozy, a bit sour, roast coffee & chocolate. After the hype we all thought it was good but a bit overrated.

An exceptional stout. Incredibly dark and rich. Roasty, alocholic, and a bit of anise. Tried at On the Rock’s Hoppin Frog beer sampling Nov. 2013.

10/28/2012. 22 oz. bottle. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, licorice, dark fruit and roasted malt. Pours black with a tan head. Robust, complex and very balanced with a bit of alcohol burn on the finish. Outstanding.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a bottle. Pours thick and black with a very thin brown head that dissipates almost immediately. Aromas of gypsum and licorice. Upfront flavors are plum and raisin, then licorice, chocolate, coffee and molasses. Chocolate finish with alcohol warmth. Syrupy mouthfeel that coats the tongue. Nicely done, but maybe a bit too syrupy. I’d like a little more hop balance and head retention, but a very enjoyable stout.
