Bottle, 2014 ed. Pours black, oily, quickly dissipating brown foam, no lacings. Aroma is coffee, cocoa, oat, slight grapey vinous, brown sugar, bourbon/corn like sweetness, leather. Taste is moderately sweet with malt, sweetness, brown sugar, bitterness with alcohol, pure coffee with a dryness in the finish. Full body, medium carbo, oily texture. A bit ordinary in my book. Also not a big fan of the corn like sweetness found in several american stouts.

Bottle, served in teku. Pours pitch black with thick, brown head. However, it quickly reduces. Aroma is full of chocolate, cocoa, dark malts, some vanilla and cinnamon, very creamy overall. Taste is absolutely delicious, full-bodied, oily texture, lots of cocoa and chocolate with distinct bitterness. Long finish, very dry and woody. Its not really warming, not alcoholic at all, very well balanced. Its definitely worth recommending, one of the best HF has to offer, always enjoyable.

Bottle. Purs pitch black with a medium brown head, leaving a ring around the glass. Oily with decent legs. Aroma of bitter chocolate, bitter hops, bitter coffee, anise and some lingering barley sweetness. Taste follows the nose with some serious amount of bitter upfront. Some brown sugar and vanilla through the mid-palate provides some creamy texture and sweetness. Dry in the finish with a decent amount of hops and anise harmonizing nicely. Hints of booze but a nice robust roast calms any astringency. Tasty!

Bomber. Rich, decadent roasted malt aroma with chocolate and coffee notes with a touch of anise and molasses. Pours inky black with a thin light brown head with no retention and very little lacing. Starts with rich roasted malt flavor with molasses and a viscous, rich, full body and mouthfeel. Finishes impeccably smooth with sweet chocolate and some coffee as well as and bit of anise. Excellent imperial stout!

Strong aroma of black licorice, anise, cinnamon, coffee and heavy roast. Slightly boozy. Absolutely perfect pitch black color, thick pour with a dark tan head. Very roasty flavor with a sharp hop bite. This gives way to some sweetness from the oats at the end. Good palate. Overall this is a very solid stout, just a little too charred for me.
