Review from memory - I had this beer at an evening tasting with friends, and was the star of the evening, together with DORIS. Chocolate, roasted malts, a bit of caramel, thick mouthfeel but goes down easy.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2015 Aroma is really good. Dark fruits, licorice, coffee, milk chocolate, oatmeal, roasted malt, really nice. Appearance is black, brown head, poured very very thick. Taste is sweet chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, a bit of licorice, oatmeal, dark fruit, a really roasty finish. Mouthfeel is thick, heavy body, soft carbonation, a lingering aftertaste that morphs from sweet to coffee bitter, dry finish, just really really good. Overall, yowza. This is very impressive.

Bottle, 2014 ed. Pours black, oily, quickly dissipating brown foam, no lacings. Aroma is coffee, cocoa, oat, slight grapey vinous, brown sugar, bourbon/corn like sweetness, leather. Taste is moderately sweet with malt, sweetness, brown sugar, bitterness with alcohol, pure coffee with a dryness in the finish. Full body, medium carbo, oily texture. A bit ordinary in my book. Also not a big fan of the corn like sweetness found in several american stouts.

Bottle, served in teku. Pours pitch black with thick, brown head. However, it quickly reduces. Aroma is full of chocolate, cocoa, dark malts, some vanilla and cinnamon, very creamy overall. Taste is absolutely delicious, full-bodied, oily texture, lots of cocoa and chocolate with distinct bitterness. Long finish, very dry and woody. Its not really warming, not alcoholic at all, very well balanced. Its definitely worth recommending, one of the best HF has to offer, always enjoyable.

1 pf 6 fl oz bottle from Brewdog online store. Black in colour, foamy brown head leaving just a little lacing and aroma of roasted malt, oats, milky, coffee, booze. Taste is rich malty, roasted, molasses, sweetish, dark fruits, oats with chocolate and coffee, plus some grassy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry earthy bitter boozy finish. Very drinkable.
