750mL bottle: Pours dark black with a dark brown head that sticks around and excellent lacing. Aroma is of toasted malt, chocolate and a nice spruce hop effect. Taste is amazing, chocolate, but balanced with good hop flavors. Easy to drink and really flavorful, complex. Great beer.

Bottle pours black with a beige head. Aroma shows tons of roast with an underlying presence of chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. Flavor shows just as much roast as well as lesser notes of coffee, oat, molasses, and a touch of alc. Overall body is moderate to full, chewy and finishes with plenty of roasted bitterness.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2012 Bottle from BrewDog. Pours a black colour with a tan head that dies away fairly quickly. Aroma of caramel, chocolate and coffee. Similar flavours with plenty of chocolate upfront. Alcohol is fairly present with a lovely lingering bitter chocolate character. Some capsaicin also, of red peppers not chilli so much. A great oily mouth-feel and moderate carbonation. Delicious! Also had this on draught at The Delirium Hoppy Loft. Dangerously drinkable given the abv!

A black and mountainous beer with a medium and beautiful, brown head. Aroma is great, lots of chocolate, balanced roastiness and coffee, hint of milky sourness, nice and balanced sweetness, some fruits; just a great aroma. Taste is strong and roasted, also greatly balanced with sweetness, coffee, refreshning grapefuity bitterness and some chocolate. Full bodied, but not sticky, powerfull, magnificently smooth to drink. Very great beer, enjoyable package where everything are just in place; amazing beer.

Bottle. Pour is oily, thick, and black. A small cinnamon colored film of bubbles briefly rested on top. This is an imperial stout by how it looks. Intense dark chocolate, prunes, oats, and a stinging alcohol burn fill the aroma. Pretty intense but not really the greatest of aromas. The alcohol burn is really detracting. Interesting flavor that is filled with fruity notes. Crazy. Some cherry and chocolate are definitely present, and chocolate lingers long into the finish. Pretty damn good tasting, with little of that alcohol intensity that was present in the aroma. Pretty thick, heavy, and full bodied. Pretty damn good after the not so great aroma. Pretty good beer to be drinking during a dreary evening, after a rough day at work, with 4 more days left before I have a day off.

Geruch nach Cornflakes, gleichzeitig fruchtig, erdig und malzröstig. Schwer dunkelmalziger Antrunk. Mittig ölige Viskosität, fruchtig und schokoladenmalzig. Abgang schokoladenmalzig, dunkel und alkoholisch wärmend. Gutes Bier.

An inky black pour with a thin brown head. Smooth mouthfeel as one would expect in an oatmeal, with hints of vanilla and raisin and a slightly tart aftertaste and little alcohol presence. An excellent winter’s nite brew.
