4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured into a tulip glass. No foam at all. Small carmel colored ring forms around the edge. Color is black in the glass. No light comes through at all. The scent is roasted malt, dark chocolate and a little hop. Very nice. First sip while cold is intense coffee and chocolate. Smooth heavy mouthfeel with surprising carbonation. As it warms up you get a little more carmel sweetness in both the smell and taste. Still lots of dark chocolate. This is great beer. Definitely something to try if you haven’t.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Strong aroma of black licorice, anise, cinnamon, coffee and heavy roast. Slightly boozy. Absolutely perfect pitch black color, thick pour with a dark tan head. Very roasty flavor with a sharp hop bite. This gives way to some sweetness from the oats at the end. Good palate. Overall this is a very solid stout, just a little too charred for me.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Lots of aroma in this oatmeal frog-brew. Shitloads of chocolate, caramels and wet wood with some vanilla. The taste is sweeter than I imagined, but not overly sweet and I guess it is here the oatmeal is put to work? It has a power from the roasted malts that balance the sweetness very effectively, and the aftertaste brings you a bitterness that has a sweet aura and a dry sensation. Almost like a Kinder egg, three in one!

Tap. Aroma of coffee and vanilla. With warming little bit of oyster/soy sauce. Perfect presence, great delicate lacing after nearly hour. Noticable alcohol in taste but not irritating. Full body with oatmeal smoothness. Some sherry/porto notes. Chocolate, vanilla and coccoa. Real torpedo.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
650 mL bottle. 2010 vintage. May have left it a bit too long. Black with not much head. Sweet, malt aroma has a little cocoa powder, maraschino cherries and soy sauce. Flavour is still nig, body is still creamy, but the carbonation has flattened out a bit. Have to try one fresher.
