JFURYCAT (705), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 16, 2008 Man, I grabbed the last one they had at the Jessup Beverage Center and it was worth the $9 I paid for it. The cherry laden nuts and roasted chocolate tones which come after a drippy pour really make me want a keg of this one. The sweetness is so well balanced and it has a creamy expresso-like feel to it. I hope this beer returns to NEPA!
AndrewKScott (281), Lemont, Illinois, USA Aug 3, 2008 Pours black with tan head. Looks great, nice thick motor oil pour. Great smell of chocolate, coffee, dried fruit and, oh yea, heaven. Flavor is very smooth, lots of dark fruits, some smokiness, some chocolate, some burnt things. Mouthfeel is awesome, and this ale kicks ass. I crushed this and was crushed by BORIS. MrChopin (137), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 29, 2008 Black with rich tan head. Beautiful. Fairly sweet, syrupy nose with brownie-like chocolate, oat, vanilla, and slight roast and alcohol. The flavor is raisins, alcohol, and long burnt roast, clinging to your tongue like antacids. Medium body that’s quite salty. I like the nose a lot, but the flavor could use some variation. I prefer a lot of other imperial stouts, and this runs fairly straightforward. Jblauvs (131), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jul 26, 2008 dark tan head, oily black pour. 0 light penetration. Incredible mellow oatmeal aroma which permeates every inch of my nose. Silky smooth mouth feel starts with some burnt fruits, then continues to some coffee and ends in a roasty oatmeal that last forever. Delightful, the combination of the oatmeal and imp stout syncs well, the smooth body of this brew will leave you breathless. craftycarl21 (155), South Hero, Vermont, USA Jul 26, 2008 pours a motor oil black with a small brown head. aroma is silky smooth- coffee, oatmeal, bitter chocolate, roasty malt- really nice.Flavor is impeccable- extremely smooth, but still has a little prickle from the alcohol. extraordinary brew. Narnad (62), Dundee, Illinois, USA Jul 20, 2008 I love oatmeal and imperial stouts and this one did not disappoint. This pours from the bottle very pitch black with a small tan head as a topper. The aroma has a coffee, chocolate and strong roasted aroma. The flavor has a very burnt malt bitterness to it at the beginning and moves into a sweet chocolate flavor and ends with a raisin flavor. This has a very high alcohol content but it hides it very well. Palate is definitely unique. Its very dark and I was expecting a bit more of a thickness to the beer. The bottle I purchased had quite a bit of yeast at the bottom which I love seeing a mass produced beer.
