kujo9 (1044), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Dec 13, 2006 22 oz bottle: Another beer that pours like used motor oil, but motor oil doesn’t have a lasting thin mocha colored head. The liquid also clings to the sides of the glass and looks like new 10/30 oil as it runs down the glass. Roasty, caramelly, chocolate, and nutty are the first impressions I get. A hint of toasted malt and burnt aromas and a whiff of alcohol. I also get a faint smell of herbal hops, but only every so often. Also a very light raisiny dark fruit that should develop well with age. Well balanced w/ a bit of a lingering bitter finish and aftertaste. Chocolate and roast are the dominant flavors. Light raisiny dark fruit, a hint of dark grain tartness. Some lightly toasty and nutty flavors mid palate. Aftertaste is roasty and chocolate w/ a touch of herbal hops, and I do mean just a touch. Light alcohol flavor as well. Very full bodied, but not sticky, lower medium carbonation, well hidden alcohol. The beer is a double edged sword. My palate likes it, but it might turn you smile brown if you drink a lot of it! Fantastic beer IMHO, and if you like big, heavy, Imp Stouts, this one’s for you!!!!

Burnt coffee, some chocolate, back to a dry, lasting finish. Slightly warm from alcohol, but hard to put down. Excellent. cgarvieuk (2390), Edinburgh, Scotland Aug 24, 2008 Bottle at home ... <thaks to WeeHeaxySD for this, a beer that was one of the first to cathc my eye with its great name ... Deep black with an ever so slight red tinge to the head ...Deep roast and loads of Chocolate in the nose ... Deep roast ... little burnt malts ... HUGE amount of chocolate ... smooth with a little spirit ... just so soft smooth silky and lovely deep chocolate .... burntness subsides over time ... sleestak (70), Williamston, Michigan, USA Aug 23, 2008 Bomber! Poured pretty frickin’ black with a light brown shaving cream head which stuck around for a while. Nose was really rich with lots of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Also notes of hazelnut and sweet, sweet booze. You thankfully get all the same stuff in the flavor with a little added hops zing in the finish. Heavy body with little carbonation and a silky mouthfeel. Sticky, but not overly sweet. Good stuff.
