BORIS the Crusher made with coffee from the Hippie Coffee Company in Canton, OH. Freshly roasted coffee flavor and aroma add satisfying levels of complexity to this robust stout, perfectly complimenting its intense, rich roasted character. Cold infusion with whole coffee beans keeps the bitterness low and the flavor high!

Bottle: Thanks, Kevin! Oily black pour, pretty thick looking with some deep tan edges & a small, silky mocha film resting on top. Aroma is full of burnt, oily coffee beans & spent coffee grounds... Intensely heavy coffee aroma with a backing of roasted malts & a little back-end bitter cocoa dust. Taste reminds me of a more tame, non-barrel version of BCS coffee with the big, oily, thick, deep, roasty coffee bean presence, obviously without the bourbon & wood. Roast, burnt brown sugar, mild ash, a touch of astringency, a slight milkiness in the finish that collides with a hint of bitter malt. Medium bodied, not as thick as I’d imagine. Great stout from Hoppin’ Frog, another nice addition to the BORIS series.

Shared a bottle at BeerTemple in Amsterdam. Pours a viscous black with virtually no head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, vanilla, oak, hazelnut. Full bodied, velvetty mouthfeel, bittersweet on the palate with a roasty sweet coffee finish. Taste is coffee, chocolate, hazelnut, dates, vanilla. So tasty

Bomber from the brewery via PUB’R. Turbid and thick black pour with tan head. Nose was roasty dark malt, coffee, dark chocolate, mild hops. Tastes thick and complex on the palate, with dark malt up front, coffee and chocolate syrup, but not sweetness, at mid-palate, and some vanilla and hops late. Very good.

Nice full body, smells of burnt coffee, tons of smoke, chocolate, and some booze. Taste is big on espresso, chocolate syrup, oak and sweet malts. Kinda boozy for 9.4% Overall solid coffee beer, but probably not in my top 5 in that style.

Bottle at home. Pours opaque black with a small brown head. Loads of coffee in the aroma with notes of roasted malt and ash. Light peppery. Highly roasted flavor with cocoa, tons of coffee and licorice in the flavor. Light ash. Long espresso mouthfeel in the finish.

Pours a nice dark brown to almost black. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, and some caramel. Taste of coffee, chocolate, espresso, and hints of vanilla and caramel. Medium to full bodied beer, not much head or lacing present. Pretty smoth and easily drinkable for an imperial stout.
