BORIS the Crusher made with coffee from the Hippie Coffee Company in Canton, OH. Freshly roasted coffee flavor and aroma add satisfying levels of complexity to this robust stout, perfectly complimenting its intense, rich roasted character. Cold infusion with whole coffee beans keeps the bitterness low and the flavor high!

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Kevin! Oily black pour, pretty thick looking with some deep tan edges & a small, silky mocha film resting on top. Aroma is full of burnt, oily coffee beans & spent coffee grounds... Intensely heavy coffee aroma with a backing of roasted malts & a little back-end bitter cocoa dust. Taste reminds me of a more tame, non-barrel version of BCS coffee with the big, oily, thick, deep, roasty coffee bean presence, obviously without the bourbon & wood. Roast, burnt brown sugar, mild ash, a touch of astringency, a slight milkiness in the finish that collides with a hint of bitter malt. Medium bodied, not as thick as I’d imagine. Very nice stout from Hoppin’ Frog, another sweet addition to the BORIS series.

Black. Light coffee aroma and flavor. Heavily roasted malt and good flavor but nothing unusual here, solid beer nonetheless.

Bomber. Cotteridge. Deep, chestnut brown. Skim of tan head. Nose has cocoa. Liquorice. Tar. Dark roast coffee bean. Milk chocolate. Some dark fruit. Some sweet, oaty malts. Hint of vanilla. Taste is coffee bean bitter, with charred wood and brown sugar sweetness. Medium body. Fairly smooth. The coffee is a little harsh and woody, maybe. More roasted, charred coffee bitterness in the finish.

65 cl bottle, served in snifter glass. Poured black as moonless night with a two finger coffee mocha tan head that dissipated quickly. Aroma: Roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, licorice, vanilla, dark fruit. Taste: freshly roasted espresso beans, dark chocolate, salty licorice, vanilla, dark fruit, oatmeal, whole wheat currant bread, fudge, creme brulee, toffee, haagse hopjes (dutch caramel/coffee treats), raisins, dates, prunes. Such a full, creamy mouthfeel. Full bodied with a long roasted bittersweet finish with loads of roasted coffee beans. Absolutely dilicious!
