Pours as dark as night with a half finger mocha colored head that dissipates quickly and leaves a ring of lacing on the glass. Smells of breakfast roast coffee, some roasted malts, maybe a hint of chocolate. Mostly just like a cup of coffee; nothing that stands out. Taste starts with the bold roasted coffee as well as some milk chocolate. Then in the middle, the coffee flavor stays, but is accompanied with some creamy malt (probably oatmeal) that lightens the bold coffee flavor. Then the finish is much of the same, with bold, yet smooth coffee. Also the milk chocolate comes back and is accompanied with some peat flavors on the very back end. Becomes more bitter and a little more complex as it warms. Nothing really stands out with the smell and taste, but the palate is nice. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel with a light medium body. Nice carbonation presence as well. Hoppin Frog is spot on with the silky mouthfeel. Have had more complex coffee porters. Not bad, but Hoppin Frog has much better offerings.

PorterPounder (5696) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - DEC 7, 2014
Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - 22 oz bomber. Pitch black pour, light off-white head that clings to the edge of the glass. Aroma has a solid coffee presence to it, reminds me of walking into a coffee shop, touch of pepper as well. Solid, bold flavor with a peppery profile, some strong black coffee notes, a hint of unsweetened chocolate, some topsoil notes in the finish. Silky smooth mouthfeel. Another solid porter from Hoppin’ Frog.

Porter za slodkawy, brakowalo mi palonosci Stouta. Praktycznie bez piany, no nieco kremowej bylo, Kolor piwa to gleboka czern. Dominuje aromat kawy gozkiej czekolady i kakao. W smaku kawa ale taka ze smietanka malo palona, nieco karmelu i ciasteczek w gozkiej czekoladzie. Finisz kawowy i dlugi. Dla milosnikow Portera srednie piwo dla wielbicieli kawy to dobra rzecz. Ogolnie piwo pod rozwage.
