Pours as dark as night with a half finger mocha colored head that dissipates quickly and leaves a ring of lacing on the glass. Smells of breakfast roast coffee, some roasted malts, maybe a hint of chocolate. Mostly just like a cup of coffee; nothing that stands out. Taste starts with the bold roasted coffee as well as some milk chocolate. Then in the middle, the coffee flavor stays, but is accompanied with some creamy malt (probably oatmeal) that lightens the bold coffee flavor. Then the finish is much of the same, with bold, yet smooth coffee. Also the milk chocolate comes back and is accompanied with some peat flavors on the very back end. Becomes more bitter and a little more complex as it warms. Nothing really stands out with the smell and taste, but the palate is nice. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel with a light medium body. Nice carbonation presence as well. Hoppin Frog is spot on with the silky mouthfeel. Have had more complex coffee porters. Not bad, but Hoppin Frog has much better offerings.

65cl bottle, served in Duvel glass. Pours black with medium tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, chocolate and hints of vanilla. Exactly the same flavour, this version is as balanced as the original with more coffee intensity. It would be nice to know what kind of coffee they used. The aftertaste is slightly more bitter than the regular Silk. Creamy mouthfeel, good carbonation. Great brew as expected.

Very dark if not black with a beige head. Aroma is coffee grounds, light chocolate, malt. Medium, smooth body. Flavor is dark coffee, earth, bitter chocolate, light caramel malt. Medium dry finish. A nice coffee porter. (Bottle was forgotten in a cool, dark basement for more than two years)

Bottle at a tasting in Rome 4:20 pub on 27/08/2015, courtesy of Dino. Thank you Dino. Last of a memorable tasting with good beer friends. Pours coffee bean color, small bubble ivory cap. Nose: moka machine coffee leftovers, grounded beans, Caffe Borghetti. Mouth: round soft bitterness, Turkish coffee soul (powder feel). Tasty.

Disclaimer: I do not drink or like coffee Heavy coffee aroma with chocolate and roasted malt. Pours black with a large light brown head. Starts out sweet and finishes with a medium bitter that I associate with coffee. Light to medium body with a somewhat creamy texture. I have a hard time rating this because I’m not a coffee drinker. I imagine it’s exactly what someone would expect from a cafe porter, so I rated it as such and not necessarily with my bias against coffee.

Bomber. Strong coffee aroma with dark chocolate and roasted malt. Pours black with a thin light brown head with decent retention and good lacing. Starts with rich dark chocolate and roasted malt flavors to go with the smooth mouthfeel and rich body. Finishes smooth with the previous flavors getting overpowered by strong coffee flavors, but it's not too bad as the chocolate really balances out the coffee well. Better than I expected given that it was brewed with coffee.

On keg @ Brewdog Bar, Edinburgh. Appearance - matt black with a lovely crema head. Nose - definitely coffee, but well integrated with the dark chocolate and creamy notes expected in the Porter base beer. Taste - yep, mocchachino. Creamy, slightly oatmeal backdrop. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a balanced creamy finish. Overall - yes, very enjoyable indeed. Even though I’m not a big fan of coffee in beer.

650 ml. pours opaque ebony with a small spot and ring of foam. Nose is quality espresso and dark chocolate. Big first taste of espresso bean, then some dark chocolate, lightly tart blackberry, dark toasted grain, vanilla and cookie dough. Near-medium body has a smooth, low-medium carbonation and a great balance from all directions.

Bottle shared during RBWG Tampa. T’anks, Donnie. Brown pour with a small white head. Loads of roasted espresso bean on the nose. Chocolate and toasty grain. Flavor is pretty similar. Nice earthy coffee and chocolate donut. Burnt brown sugar, caramel. Full, thick mouthfeel. Rich. Nice stuff.
