Beware! Beware! The Double Oatmeal Russian Imperial Stout will destroy your taste buds like no other. More hops and more malt than BORIS create a super deep roasted and full bodied flavor, making this the great, great grand daddy of all stout styles.

Crushed with a bra!
Pours a very dark, basically black color with s small espresso swirl type of head.

The aroma is rich and boozy with plenty of dark fruit and a lot of chocolate.

The flavor is a whole bunch of bitter chocolate... for as sweet as it smells and as syrupy it looks the beer does a pretty good job of staying away from cloying sweetness. It’s not to say it’s not sweet, but that aspect is pretty well balanced out. The beer has flavors of black strap molasses, dark berries and mild coffee.

bottle @ALEhouse, Riga Hmm, thick malty, hoppy, woody WOW. This is rear sample of full bodied to me. Pours balsam black with dark brown small top, diminish super fast, no lacing. Aroma of pure dark, dark malt and barrels, ahh... those barrels. Hints of cocoa too, pleasant hoppy presence as well. Taste is sweet with average+ bitter from hopping. Very pleasant brew. Dry finish, pleasant roast-bitter long aftertaste, a bit hoppy sour at the end. Weird that I like it cause of not too simple flavor as well as not too complex, easy enjoyable although not meant to be just consumed. Nice.

Bottle from Hoppin’ Frog tasting room. Thanks dad! Poured into a snifter at home. Black, oily pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate, nibs, vanilla, dark fruits, coffee and anise. Taste is bourbon barrels, dark chocolate malts, roasted malts, slight vanilla, anise and prunes. Full body with the oatmeal and possible lactose. Decent carb. Finish is bourbon and coffee with dark chocolate. Very very nice!

Bottle thanks to Jstax ! Pours a deep rich black color with a dark kahki foam. On the nose its rich dark chocolate syrup, roasted malt, plum and earth, booze. The palate follows the nose with a big dark chocolate front end but loads of complex dark fruit, tobacco, burnt brownie... bitter lingering finish. Yum.

On tap at Eulogy. Opaque with a small ring of cream. Aroma of burnt espresso, merlot, ash and cocoa. Taste is the same mix with a touch of berry and soy sauce. Medium-heavy body has average carbonation and is fairly dry on the finish. Too much of a good thing with the overwhelming roast; seems to also intensify the abv presence. Somewhat tasty and drinkable, but probably wouldn’t purchase again.

One of the more complex HF releases. The backbone of malt and oatmeal make this quite impressive. Love the roasty, boozy flavor. Let it breathe for a while and it gets even more complex. Throwing a few of these in the cellar now.
