Beware! Beware! The Double Oatmeal Russian Imperial Stout will destroy your taste buds like no other. More hops and more malt than BORIS create a super deep roasted and full bodied flavor, making this the great, great grand daddy of all stout styles.

Bomber. Pours Jet Black with brown head. Aroma is Sweet Malt and Dark Chocolate. Taste is sweet malt, chocolate and hops with a dark chocolate alcohol hoppy finish. Very rich and thick. Not overly sweet due to the hop character. Very good.

Bottle @ Abijen’s Christmas non-tick tasting. Black oily pour, nice. Aroma of coffee, cacao and creamy roasted malt. Rich flavor of thick cream, bitter cacao, roasted coffee and also a little passion fruit. Bitter finish. Fantastic.

It’s been awhile since I’ve written a real time review, but time to change the pattern - extemporaneous beer-talk, for the benefit of my Ratebeer account. This particular bottle has been sitting in a cellar for about a year, given to me as a Christmas gift way back in 2014, and has been left to its own unctuous devices ever since. The pour is more of a slither, slinking out of the glass, as if I’ve caught it right before it committed a crime, and it sits there, calm, quiet and placid. The nose, meanwhile, is active, slowly conquering the atmosphere with heavy notes of barrel aged whiskey, sinfully dark chocolate, cobwebs and vanilla bean. But the real treat, the 10/10 treatment, is in the flavor. This potion is exquisite, with coffee and cocoa, but think luxury versions of each. The lightest tang in there adds lovely depth, a chasm of chocolate flavor, and my palate is free falling without a care, loose limbed and eyes closed. The palate is perfect too, not too thick or oozing, but just the right heft to carry a beer of this depth and breadth. This thing is damn good, and the aging probably helped. I’m looking forward to sipping this one for another hour or two, because each one is its own treat.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2016 Pitch black and oily pour, with a modestly tall dark espresso head that gives way to a thin dark brown lacing. Smells like dark cherries, cocoa, dark chocolate, maple syrup, bourbon. Tons of dark chocolate, cocoa, cherries in the taste notes, together with espresso and maple syrup. Super smooth and oily texture with no detectable carbonation and a chocolate-heavy aftertaste. The alcohol is well hidden, a pleasant warmth in the back of the throat.

Remekbe szabott főzet, akárcsak Boris nevű testvére, itt azonban a komlós zárás adta karakter speciális jelleggel ruházza fel a nagyvérű imperial stoutot.

Rated on 9-16-2015 (Bottle) The appearance is a very small light brown head with a short retention, opaque dark brown body, fast rising carbonation on the sides of the glass, and very little carbonation. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruits, spicy, and alcohol. The flavor is roasted malt, dark fruits, chocolate, and alcohol. This beer’s mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and it is a full bodied beer. This is a very good brewed beer that is also a nice sipping beer. It has a very enjoyable flavor and is worth trying. This is a beer that I would definitely partake in again.
