COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beware! Beware! The Double Oatmeal Russian Imperial Stout will destroy your taste buds like no other. More hops and more malt than BORIS create a super deep roasted and full bodied flavor, making this the great, great grand daddy of all stout styles.

22 oz. bottle. Pours black with a moderate deep brown head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left a thin veil and many scattered pinpricks as lace. Very pleasant aroma of roasted malt, raisins, some chocolate, and booze. The flavor is ok but not great with roasted malt, some char, and raisins. Moderate bitterness at the finish. Some mild alcohol warmth at the finish as well. Full bodied. A good beer, but just falls a bit short from making it into the 4’s.

Bottle. Aroma has dark chocolate, coffee and cocoa. Flavor is a bit mediciny but is consistent with the aroma having the roasted coffee as a dominant flavor. Aftertaste has coffee and is roasty, nice! The head has an amazing deep color!

Pailhead (3884) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - JUN 14, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate dark chocolate, black licorice, roast, and espresso. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small brown head that fades to a thin ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate dark chocolate, black licorice, and a touch of molasses. The finish is heavily hopped with pine, moderate roast, espresso, and light burnt notes. It’s medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and an oily mouthfeel.

Brouwerij (501) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 8, 2013
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with minimal brown head. Settles very quickly with no lacing, as expected with the high ABV. Aroma is heavily roasted, slight coffee, oatmeal, chocolatey, quite sweet, some dark stone fruit, very mild alcohol. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, mild to moderate hop bitterness, mild alcohol with a deeply roasted, dark malt finish. Good balance of roast and hops, usually not a fan of detectable hops in stouts but this is tastefully done. Palate is pretty thoroughly ruined/saturated. Soft to moderate carbonation, full body, and smooth texture. A very dark, roasted, rich, strong, delicious imperial stout. People have been raving about this beer, really glad I got to try it, it lives up to its reputation.

This was quite solid. Inky black beer with a frothy, brown head. Strong aromas of dark coffee. Tastes of bitter, dark coffee, burnt coffee beans, and some dark chocolate. Some hints of oatmeal and booze too. Dry, with a chalky/bitter finish. A bit too palate destroying for my taste, but this was still very good.
