4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Wow! Possibly the smoothest Imperial Stout I’ve tried yet. Poured tar black with a rich brown head. Smelled of dark roasted coffee, vanilla, and chocolate. Very creamy mouthfeel with flavors of coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, and vanilla. The lacing was like melted ice cream. Can’t wait to have this one again.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a pitch black color, with a small head, which leaves back a thin lacing.
Got a complex nose of toffee and coffee, wrapped up by bready malts and hints of tobacco, as well as a matured hoppy note. This comes along with a subtle infusion of dried blackberries, while the aromas in general are defined by a great balance between toffeeish fudge and charred coffee. Got a certain heat to it with glazed malts and a sweet peak of molasses.
While the beer drinks pleasantly smooth, it got a fitting, lively carbonation, which brings a decent hop dryness to the palate during the finish.
Begins with bready, coffee infused malts, which got a biscuity hint to them. This gets accompanied by both, soft cream and ashy tobacco. Then a sweet note of glazed toffee, fudge and molasses gets mixed with the bready flavors, while fluffy cream is still providing a smooth mouthfeel. The finish then is defined by coffee and warming caramel, standing in perfect balance to each other, while the beer seems to be quite aggressivly hopped, as a recognizable dryness appears from the coffee, providing a gentle bitterness. Concludes with an interessting aftertaste, formed my cream and earthy, slightly slick coffee.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Black beer with chocolate-brown head that dont last for long. Aroma of cherry/porto (dark fruits in alohol), a lot of chocolate, some coffe. In taste first dominating chocolate sweetnes, than roasted coffe-like bitterness and than some (a little bit) fruity sour and solid bitternes from hops (and I’m not drinking it fresh, and hops are definitly still there, impressive). Body is full, oily, as you would expect. Alcohol is slightly warming but well hidden overall. Beer have really light carbonation. Very long roasted and hoppy finish. Impressive how this beer have one thing going on you after another, in taste and in the aroma. I’m impressed.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz provided by Adrien. Oily black liquid leaving an slick film across the snifter. Aroma is nice dark chocolate, burnt coffee bean and layers of roasted notes.
Wow, the body of this stout is about as thick and chewy of a mouthfeel I have ever tasted. Nicely oily slick feel. The flavor is layers of sweet chocolate, roasted grain, earthy malt notes, coffee and nuts. Tons and tons of flavor with a lightly lingering anise flavor. Real nice.

Fulminanter, ausgewogener Abgang. Wow, was für ein Imp. Stout!

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
One of the thickest pours I can remember in many years. Head takes some coaxing but sliwly building a dark tan glow before disappearing forever. Silky thick velvet dark sap layered with earth, black chocolate and masses and masses of deep intensity. Very fine.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (660ml). Pitch black with a small and thick dark brown head, little lacing and quickly disapears. Aroma of chocolat, roasted malt, molasses and hops. Taste is moderately sweet with fudge, molasses, roasted malt, a earthy bitterness and a warming alcohol finish. Medium to full body. Low to no carbonation. The lack of carbonation and misplaced earthy hop bitterness makes this the lesser of the Boris variants. Maybe this beer is better when it is fresh.
