3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bottle served in a Westbrook Tulip. 2011 vintage.
A: Pours an opaque black color with a quick dissolving dark brown head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring and some whisps.
S: Dark fruits, roasted malts and a touch of smoke are all present here. Some dark chocolate and bitter coffee beans pop up as well.
T: Some nice dark fruit flavors with a slight booze kick hits up front. The booze lingers throughout and has intermingling flavors of bakers chocolate and candied sugar. The finish has a ton of semi-bitter roasted malts that a have a little sweetness kick as well and a twinge of smoke.
M: Heavy bodied with a medium carbonation level. Nice mouth coating oiliness and slickness.
O: Very solid flavors throughout. The booze lingers a little much and leaves a little too much sweetness. There is some deep roasted malts that counter this in the finish, but the booze seems to stick around even after that.

Crushed with a bra!
Pours a very dark, basically black color with s small espresso swirl type of head.
The aroma is rich and boozy with plenty of dark fruit and a lot of chocolate.
The flavor is a whole bunch of bitter chocolate... for as sweet as it smells and as syrupy it looks the beer does a pretty good job of staying away from cloying sweetness. It’s not to say it’s not sweet, but that aspect is pretty well balanced out. The beer has flavors of black strap molasses, dark berries and mild coffee.

Hmm, thick malty, hoppy, woody WOW. This is rear sample of full bodied to me. Pours balsam black with dark brown small top, diminish super fast, no lacing. Aroma of pure dark, dark malt and barrels, ahh... those barrels. Hints of cocoa too, pleasant hoppy presence as well. Taste is sweet with average+ bitter from hopping. Very pleasant brew. Dry finish, pleasant roast-bitter long aftertaste, a bit hoppy sour at the end. Weird that I like it cause of not too simple flavor as well as not too complex, easy enjoyable although not meant to be just consumed. Nice.

Bottle thanks to Jstax ! Pours a deep rich black color with a dark kahki foam. On the nose its rich dark chocolate syrup, roasted malt, plum and earth, booze. The palate follows the nose with a big dark chocolate front end but loads of complex dark fruit, tobacco, burnt brownie... bitter lingering finish. Yum.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Eulogy. Opaque with a small ring of cream. Aroma of burnt espresso, merlot, ash and cocoa. Taste is the same mix with a touch of berry and soy sauce. Medium-heavy body has average carbonation and is fairly dry on the finish. Too much of a good thing with the overwhelming roast; seems to also intensify the abv presence. Somewhat tasty and drinkable, but probably wouldn’t purchase again.
