There’s a place just south they call Frog’s Hollow, brewin’ pumpkin ale in Fall, and they only speak in whispers of the name. There’s a lady they say who has the secret, of spices picked just right. With a crying shout, she’ll knock it out, and hand you the Frog’s delight.

This was enjoyable but there are plenty of other pumpkin beers out there I would rather have. Color was just what I wanted in a golden dark brown with nice carbonation. Aroma nice also with a lot of spice that really tells you you’re heading for pumpkin land. The flavor is what I did not enjoy as much. While the spice and pumpkin where there, it was something about the combination of flavors and body that were off and led to a less than optimal experience. Couldn’t say exactly what it was but it just seemed a bit off to me. Again, spices and pumpkin is there, just not in the right combination for me.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of pumpkin, spices, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Poured orange in color with no head. Slightly cloudy. Lightly sparkling. Full of tiny particles throughout. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of pumpkin, spices, cinnamon, light nutmeg, and allspice. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Pumpkin, spice, nutmeg, and allspice finish is lightly sticky. Not the best Pumpkin beer I have had, but definitely not the worst. 8.4%ABV is totally hidden.

Nose is spicy with cinamon, nutmeg, some pumpkin vegetal notes. Pours golden amber with a fizzy foam that goes away in seconds. Medium spice notes - cinnamon, pumpkin spice. Not much else. Some pumpkin flavors, but rather muted. Was expecting more depth for the abv. Not poorly done, just not what I expected from this solid brewer.

This poured a hazy orange color with an off white head. Aroma was a bit sweet, slight spices of cloves and ginger, and alcohol as well. Flavor was upfront decent pumpkin taste but nothing standoutish at all. The only thing that stands out is the alcohol which is disappointing with this one only being 8.4%

Smells of pumkin pie and notes of clove and nutmeg, aroma is predominantly one dimensional though. I really want to like this beer, but the first sip tasted strange. Flavor obviously consists of pumpkin and there are notes of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and almost an apple juice flavor. I gave the appearance a 2 which is rare for me, most beers that I rate get an automatic 3 atleast. However this beer lacked any sort of head, no matter how vigarous the pour. It also appears almost still in the glass.

Bottle 22oz: pours clear orange with light white head. Aroma of a typical pumpkin ale. Flavor has the standard cinnamon, all spice, nutmeg, etc. Very pleasing pumpkin ale perfect for the autumn season.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2010 22oz bomber 10/4/09 (Binny’s Naperville)-Pours a clear orangish golden with a small ring for a head. Aroma of pumpkin pie, clove, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Taste of the same with a bit of alcohol coming through. This medium bodied brew is not bad. Wish the pumpkin aroma matched the taste and it could hide the ABV a little better.

Bottle. Aroma of standard but nice pumpkin spices, sweet malt more than sweet pumpkin. Flavor continues to have a nice spice profile, but the sweet malt character becomes increasingly cloying. Not a big fan.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange with a very small ring of white head. Aroma of pumpkin spices (mostly lots of ginger, pepper, clove, nutmeg). Flavor is equally spicy with only a touch of pumpkin pie crust. On the sweet side. Overall, it just isn’t very tasty nor very pumpkin-y. Bleh. 6/4/6/3/11 [3.0/5]

Pumpkin beer is one of my favorite things about fall, and this is a really good one. Southern Tier Pumking is my favorite, but this beer was also quite good. It poured an orange color with a huge white head. Aroma is very spicy and pumpkin-pie like. Flavor was even sweeter and very full-bodied; spicy (cinammon, nutmeg, etc) with some smokey pumpkin flavor also. Mouthfeel was rich and full. This was really good. I bought this at Blacklick Liquor in on Broad St near Reynoldsburg, OH.
