There’s a place just south they call Frog’s Hollow, brewin’ pumpkin ale in Fall, and they only speak in whispers of the name. There’s a lady they say who has the secret, of spices picked just right. With a crying shout, she’ll knock it out, and hand you the Frog’s delight.

This brew is a clear golden orange color with a medium bone white head that recedes steadily. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, pumpkin and nutmeg. Full, smooth body with flavors of roasted malt, pumpkin spices and caramel. More muted pumpkin character than I was expecting all in all. The finish is sweet clove and pumpkin with a malty aftertaste. Above average overall.

Likely the best pumpkin ale I’ve had to date, absolutely spot on. Warm, gentle aroma of bakers spices, roasted pumpkin and caramelized brown sugar. The pumpkin and spices smell fresh and authentic. Cloudy amber-orange body producing a huge, frothy head and thick, heavy lacing. The malt body is what makes this one stand out, it’s big and hefty...full bodied is an understatement. Subtly sweet with the right amount of spice, well blended all around. Flavor contains all of the good attributes of a standard pumpkin ale, but the thick luscious malts are what propels this forward. Real pumpkin flavor with a roasted nuttiness, lots of bread and toffee influences.

Receiving 22-oz bomber via trade with shigadeyo. Pours a clear orange amber colored brew with an average off-white/beige head that has some nice lacing and a creamy top. Aroma of nutmeg spice, a hint of caramel malt, pumpkin pie filling and a hint of ginger. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of pumpkin, nutmeg, a hint of clove and some cinnamon. Finish has a lingering nutmeg aftertaste with some pumpkin character.

Orange amber color out of the bottle with almost no head. Big spicey nose with some hairspray. Big spicey cinnimon, clove, ginger and pumpkin pie spice all over enough of a malty backbone to work. A well balanced and flavorful pumpkin spice beer.

Bomber split with maniac. Pours a clear amber with ring of tan head. Nose is sweet nutmeg spice. Flavor is ginger, nail polish, pumpkin pie. Not all that bad, but I just don’t really care for pumpkin beers. And overpriced at $10/bottle.

Bomber from amietag1. Pours a generally clear copper color, thin white head. Aroma is spicy with notes of nutmeg, pumpkin, cinnamon, honey, some light floral esters. Flavor is much of the same with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, ripe gourd, cooked pumpkin, hints of raisin. Medium body with a spicy finish.

2009-10-31. Crisp orange amber body with a small beige head. 3+ Moderate spice aroma over mild fruity pumpkin character. 7+ Flavour is similar, mild spices over fruit pumpkin character, light bitterness in the finish. 7+ Smooth average to medium bodied palate. Pretty good but it is just a touch more pumpkin and less spice than my ideal. Enjoyable. Bottle c/o Brigadier

Bottle at the release of Flaming Fury. Pours a clear orange with a thin white head. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla on the nose. A bit of an odd plastic and basil flavor. A bit hot with a somewhat spicy finish.
