Commercial Description:
There’s a place just south they call Frog’s Hollow, brewin’ pumpkin ale in Fall, and they only speak in whispers of the name. There’s a lady they say who has the secret, of spices picked just right. With a crying shout, she’ll knock it out, and hand you the Frog’s delight.

2009-10-31. Crisp orange amber body with a small beige head. 3+ Moderate spice aroma over mild fruity pumpkin character. 7+ Flavour is similar, mild spices over fruit pumpkin character, light bitterness in the finish. 7+ Smooth average to medium bodied palate. Pretty good but it is just a touch more pumpkin and less spice than my ideal. Enjoyable. Bottle c/o Brigadier

Pours hazy orange with almost no head. Very light carbonation. Aroma is of pumpkin, spice, and yeast. The aroma is pretty much pumpkin, and not much else. Taste is of pumpkin, spice, and nothing else. Absolutely one-note. Very watery, yet crisp taste. Alcohol is well-masked by the pumpkin. Dissapointing.

Bottle courtesy of Butters from City Beverage on 11/05/2009. Mostly clear copper amber body with a large rocky off-white head. Huge spice aroma, cinnamon, nutmeg, and mace with a pumpkin background. Pumpkin and nutmeg flavor, like pumpkin pie. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Bottle:   Clear amber, a little fiery, thin fizzy white head, spotty lacing.   Very spicy nose, cinnamon, nutmeg, and all-spice.   Very spicy on the tongue, lingers long.   Fairly full bodied.   Slight band-aid.   Has a slight fragrance that reminds me of spiced candles.   A little more robust than most of those I have had tonight.   Overall well rounded, body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Thanks roborb for this treat!

Bomber. Poured relatively pale, lighter orange with a short-ish cap of white head. The aroma picked up thick, juicy pumpkin pie (pumpkin meat, nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove really popped).. warm, spicy, and enjoyable. The flavor was along the same lines.. pumpkin meat and biscuity malts at the core.. nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice around.. finished a bit sharp with the spicage and some warmth. Medium-bodied and again very spicy on the palate.. quite dry on the back.. solid brew.

Sweet, autumn spicy, boozy aroma with a bright copper appearance. It is very smooth on the palate for such a high ABV with a malty slightly sweet and spicy flavor.

Another fall 2009 beer found in the beer fridge. I’m not a big fan of this style, but Since this is a local brewer, I thought I owed it to him to try it. The aroma is pumpkin and mild hops. The pour is orange in color and the head is a small ring of yellowish bubbles. The flavor is a very nice mix of hops and pumpkin. I have had many a pumpkin beer that seemed like it lacked any pumpkin and had a heaping helping of pumpking spice, that is not the case here. while the pumpkin flavor is noticable, the spice mix is i not too stong. you will notice the clove, nutmeg and touch of cinnamon. The malts are roasty and sweet. A very good pumpking beer.

Bomber poured a clear orange amber with a small lingering light amber head. Aromas of pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, carmel and clove. Palate was light to medium bodied and smoothy. Flavors of carmel, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg with a smootyh lingering spiced finish.
