3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle purchased at Crown Liquors in downtonw Indy. Thought Iíd missed out on this retired brew. Hazy amber to copper pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of raspberry, strawberry, caramel and Belgian esters. Caramel and toffee flavor with tart berry essence and honey before a semi-sweet finish. Very good, especially for a style I donít typically enjoy.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample at Eurostash III tasting on 01/12/2012: Thanks a bunch to JaBier for snagging a bottle! The beer pours an amber-gold color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Fruity, malty aroma with spices in the background. Full-bodied with a ripe fruity character and notes of dark malts, spice and yeast. The finish is fruity with a lingering sweet aftertaste. I had reservations about the probably age on this beer but it held up surprisingly well. Pretty good overall.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Fail. Its retired for a reason. Boozy sweet breads and stale apple jacks. Notes of hay and splenda. Wierd and not very good.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bomber, wet cardboard, too sweet, stale bread. Tastes like a shitty Belgian triple. And now we know why it fails. Lawalerskates.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle pours into a tulip amber with a thin whitish head. Aromas are malt and dark fruit, sweet. Taste is similar with dark fruits and not much else. Alcohol is well hidden but comes through on the back end with some warmth. Overall, not bad, straight forward.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled@The 2nd ES/CS Beer Tasting. (thanks K.K.!). Reddish orange colour with a mediumsized foamy off-white head. Aroma is quite much a Belgian tripel meeting toffee and American hops. Flavour is being similar, in a nice balanced. Hides the ABV really well, making this a pleasant and refreshing strong ABV beer.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle thanks to StFun! Light pumpkin colored pour, very little head and a vegetal and a little spice aroma. Flavor has plenty of malt, sweet honey, spicy clove and finished with a few off flavors. I can tell this was probably better fresh, but still a decent beer even though itís past its prime.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Well, this is a retired brew so it has obviously been on the shelves for a while and thus past its prime and then some. I donít think itís fair that my review might reflect negatively on Hoppiní Frog because I think they are a very fine brewery indeed but I still think the lovely people here at RateBeer deserve a bit of a warning. First off, this gushed. It wasnít bad but open it over the sink. As gushers often do it pours w/ a huge head that diminishes to nothing rather quickly. The nose is of tart apples and toffee w/ some sherry-like oxidized notes, actually not too bad. A lot of times gushers have no carbonation as they apparently release all their carbonation in the initial onslaught of uncontrolled bubbling but this is overcarbanated in addition to being rather strangely sticky and overly sweet. The flavor, like the nose, is sort of a muddle of oxidized flavors. It is not terrible but kind of weird. While this may have been a fine beer at some point, it is not anymore and Iíd advise against purchase if you do happen across a bottle. Grab a bottle of the very excellent Hoppiní to Heaven or BORIS the Crusher instead.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 Oz. Bottle. Pours a nice auburn with a small off-white head, dissipating to nothing over some time. Aroma is sweet with caramel malt. marmalade and liqueur. Tastes sweet as well with a lot of honey, brown sugar, slight sweet potato flavor, and orange-cake. Finishes sweet and warming, flavor doesnít really evolve into anything on the finish, itís just a weaker version of what you just tasted. I do taste the alcohol. It has a 10.5 % alc. / vol. It is now "retired" Iím glad I have two bottles in Reserve.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
rich reddish gold with barely any head. nose is spicy and phenolic. very thick mouthfeel and low carbonation for the style. mild hop bitterness before some fruity esters before more phenolic and perhaps DMS notes with a sour tang. very full mouthfeel due to high residual sweetness, both out of character for the style. This beer has been retired and I found it at a store, so it is likely far past its prime and likely infected, though that is somewhat forgiving of the flavor, a belgian ale should age well with proper bottling techniques. An undrinkable beer from a premier brewery in the area, likely an aberration, but very disappointing
