22 oz. bomber into a tulip glass. Guess this is from 2011? Pours a hazy burnt amber body with no real foam. Some light edging and minimal lacing. Plenty of sediment on the last pour. Smell is oxidized malts, caramel, and some spices. Taste is also of caramel, oxidation and some Belgian yeast spice. Drinkable enough, but most certainly over the hill. Medium mouth feel with nice carbonation. Feels a bit boozy but doesn’t taste like it. Probably a former shell of itself but if you enjoy oxidation this has a really pleasant level of that which works quite well off of the light spice of the Belgian yeast.

Strong malt and booze aroma. Cloudy dark amber. Sweet and malty and very strong. Lightly carbonated.

It poured a dark color with a small head. The aroma was of honey, pears, apple juice and alcohol. The taste was a little bit sweet and sticky, but very good. The alcohol was present, and not overwhelming.

Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. My house. I bought it. Pours a caramel clear hue with no head. The nose and taste are also full of cooked caramel. Alcohol makes this boozy. Cinnamon spice and others. Not great and with the ABV it could have more going on.

Bottle purchased at Crown Liquors in downtonw Indy. Thought I’d missed out on this retired brew. Hazy amber to copper pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of raspberry, strawberry, caramel and Belgian esters. Caramel and toffee flavor with tart berry essence and honey before a semi-sweet finish. Very good, especially for a style I don’t typically enjoy.

Sample at Eurostash III tasting on 01/12/2012: Thanks a bunch to JaBier for snagging a bottle! The beer pours an amber-gold color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Fruity, malty aroma with spices in the background. Full-bodied with a ripe fruity character and notes of dark malts, spice and yeast. The finish is fruity with a lingering sweet aftertaste. I had reservations about the probably age on this beer but it held up surprisingly well. Pretty good overall.

Fail. Its retired for a reason. Boozy sweet breads and stale apple jacks. Notes of hay and splenda. Wierd and not very good.

Bomber, wet cardboard, too sweet, stale bread. Tastes like a shitty Belgian triple. And now we know why it fails. Lawalerskates.

Bottle pours into a tulip amber with a thin whitish head. Aromas are malt and dark fruit, sweet. Taste is similar with dark fruits and not much else. Alcohol is well hidden but comes through on the back end with some warmth. Overall, not bad, straight forward.

Bottled@The 2nd ES/CS Beer Tasting. (thanks K.K.!). Reddish orange colour with a mediumsized foamy off-white head. Aroma is quite much a Belgian tripel meeting toffee and American hops. Flavour is being similar, in a nice balanced. Hides the ABV really well, making this a pleasant and refreshing strong ABV beer.
