3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to Crizay for this beer. Pours clear orange/auburn with a small off-white head, dissipating to nothing over some time. Oddly clear looking (upon first glass) considering all the haze I saw in the bottle weeks ago. Guess the yeast settled. Aroma is sweet with honey, cinnemon, marmalade, orange-cake, and liquer. Tastes sweet as well with a lot of honey, brown sugar, slight sweet potato flavor, cinnemon, gingerbread, and orange-cake. Finishes sweet and warming, flavor doesn’t really evolve into anything on the finish, it’s just a weaker version of what you just tasted. Viscous on the palate, medium-full bodied, but this glass is lacking a creamy body that a style like this needs. Perhaps the second, more yeasty glass will add some of what this lacks. Still, this beer is in dire need of a substatial finish to help counter the sweet flavors. Reminds me of The Reverend. Could be really good....

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a hazy deep nougat-hued orange body with a small white head. Nose is banana, candy sugar, caramel, white sugar and hints of clove, cinnamon, wet grass and pepper. Taste is caramel, white sugar, spices, clove, mild banana and hints of toffee, bready malts and alcohol. Full body, high carbonation. A real "big Belgian" with enough esters and candi sugar tones to kill a small Ardenne village. Bold and quite tasty, but not too subtle. A nice brew, nevertheless.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Yeast, honey, citrus and very bitter. Heavy bitterness not good at all. Fills the upper part of the mouth a weak moment. A beer that does not suit me at all. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Darker copper in color, off-white head. Sweet malts, orange peel and yeasty spicyness in aroma. Some vinous notes as well. Honey sweetness and citrus fruits in taste. Spicy and somewhat boozy aftertaste.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Süßlich herber, insgesamt stimmiger Antrunk. Deutlich fruchtig, angenehme Kräuternoten. Die milde Karbonisierung passt perfekt, harmonisch, vollmundig. Die Kräuternoten steigen, geringe Herbe. Etwas Vanille. Gut! 9/11/12/12/11/12

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Never had a chance to rate this, and then suddenly kihoskh had it on its shelves.. fantastic.. cloudy golden, smooth small white head.
spicy aroma, malty, yeasty, yellow fruity notes as a blonde, also a strange sourish note to it, which i am looking forward to find out what the tasting source of, is.. or.. whatever.. flavor is malty, faint yellow fruity notes, sweet caramel, very velvety in the feel, tastes like way less than 10.5% abv. if blind tasted i would’ve guessed blonde or perhaps some barley wine with a belgian twist. Flavor is pretty good, and as the beer appears a lot easier to drink than it’s strength it is pretty dangerous. Normally i prefer belgian beer brewed in belgium, but this one is a pretty neat example of foreign attempts at belgian beer, it has added a twist of elegance and un-wildness, but retained most of the flavors. Good stuff from ohio

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle pour at the source. Pours a crystal clear copper with a beige head of foam that dissipates fairly quickly. The aroma has mostly banana esters. Some woody notes come through as well, but that banana sweetness is the key here. Big body and medium carbonation. Decent stuff.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but was recently released. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/amber color with a small foamy light khaki head with poor retention, that reduces to a ring of lacing fairly quickly. Slight spotty lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big apricot, plum, pear, apple, melon, light banana, clove, pepper, honey, candi sugar, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast. earthy hops, and pale malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big apricot, plum, pear, apple, melon, light banana, clove, pepper, honey, candi sugar, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of apricot, plum, pear, apple, melon, light banana, clove, honey, candi sugar, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt sweetness; with a nice malt/yeast balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and fairly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Belgian strong pale. All around good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz. bottle from Dutch’s. Nice to see this one make a comeback after so many years of not being brewed. Pours a deep, clear orange with an off-white ring for a head. Aroma of toasted and sweet and bready malts, mixed sugars, straw, nuts, leaves, and mild spice. The flavor is similar, but boozier. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, warming mouthfeel. Good strong Belgian ale. Might do well about 6-12 months from now, and I probably need to drink it a bit colder. But good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at the tasting room. Pours clean gold with thin, quickly diminishing head. Aroma is Belgian spice, fruit, caramel, candi sugar. Little too sweet finish for me.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle, from Dutch’s. Mildly hazy orange red color. Thin ring of khaki head, quickly fades to nothing. Leaves no lace. Cool green custom Hoppin Frog bottle cap that I haven’t seen before.. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp, light carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Pretty smooth and easy to sip. Alcohol is very well hidden. Nice banana, light citrus, light spice. Bit of caramel malt. Pretty well-rounded. Moderate sweet, but not too sweet, and not at all cloying. Good light to moderate bitterness, too. Alcohol works very well, here, and very easy to drink for 10.5%... Extra point for that. Pretty awesome American Belgian strong ale.
