oteyj (713), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Jul 5, 2008 22 oz bomber poured into a trappist glass. Pours reddish amber with quickly dissapating beige head. Lively carbonation and big bubbles. Aroma is Ripe fruit, bannana, and caramel yeast. Flavor is pronounced and powerful. Sweet fruit and caramel malt meld together with a nice rich yeast presence. Hint of alcohol in the finish. Palate is thick, rich, smooth, and unbelievable refreshing and crisp. Light and refreshing for the style- believe it or not this makes for a great summer sipper.
Snojerk321 (1911), San Diego, California, USA Oct 14, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours a lightly hazed deep copper color with a small off white head that left some spotty lacing. Candy sugar is the first thing that hits my nose, followed by some candied apricots and citrus. Flavor was very sweet with candied tree fruits and a bit of booze. Braudog (3732), Dayton, Ohio, USA Oct 4, 2009 Bottle. Rusty orange with an initial fizzle that runs away quickly. The aroma is fairly level, with just a hint of orange blossom. The beer drinks with a nice viscous mouthfeel, with an easy-going mix of Belgiany flavors, orange rind and mellow spice. (#3691, 10/4/2009) fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Oct 2, 2009 Bottle at Monk’s Café, Wallingatan Golden color, small head. The aroma is simple, a bit fruity. It has some sweetish caramel flavor, with an evident honey side. Correct bitterness, but also the alcohol shows up. An ok beer, but it can be boring. Clear amber, no head. Aroma of marzipan and glue. Sweet and grainy with lots of marzipan. Way too sweet. Very non-Belgian feel to it with it’s overpowering residual sweetness, yet alcohol clearly shines through. Ther are some pleasant flavours of orange and marzipan, but overall it’s more of a syrupy alcoholic golden strong ale than anything Belgian style. ante (2904), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 31, 2009 Updated: Sep 1, 2009Bottled at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Pours out in a clear orabge amber colour with nearly no head. Clean sugary of candied oranges, apricots, rubber and peppery alcohol. Full-bodied with clean cloyingly sweet notes of candied oranges, marzipan and honey. Long sweet finish of candied oranges, mild grassy hops and peppery alcohol. No thanks. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Aug 24, 2009 Bomber bottle. Pours a deep golden orange. Sweet malty & honey aroma. Taste was way too sweet. Full mouthfeel. Almost like honey infused syrup beer.Sweetness almost unbearable. couldnt finish thewolf (5621), Kolding, Denmark Jul 8, 2009 Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Pours clear orange amber with a small, off-white film head. Aroma has oranges, vinious, light yeast, some red apples. Malty as well. Fat and oily mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, malty, some prunes, oranges, vinious. The alcohol is apparent, but the sweetness is fine and balancing. Light coriander in the end.
