Hop Dam has been a long time in the works, and its design required us to build a large stainless steel hop dam for our kettle, just for this beer! It was worth all the effort, because this beer is extremely hoppy and very satisfying, using 50% more hops than our Mean Manalishi Double IPA, which was voted Best Double IPA In The World by the US Beer Tasting Championships. Hop Dam is 10% alcohol by volume, and really hoppy, with a bitterness level that is very high but refined and therefore refreshing – its like kissing a hop!! Along with all the standard hop additions, it is also mash-hopped, first-kettle-hopped, and dry-hopped!!! Hop Dam is a 100% American-style IPA, dominated by the top-rated, assertive and refined Amarillo hops, along with lots of aroma and flavor from Columbus, and Cascade, and the wonderful Summit hops – the very special dwarf hop plant picked by hand, and sought-after for its great flavor and aroma. These hops work great together, and make Hop Dam TRIPLE IPA our new standard for hoppy beers!! It will be available for only a few months, so get Hop Dam while it lasts!

Pours orange with white head and no lacing. Aroma of citrus and tropical fruit hops. Taste is the same with a pine hops, malty sweetness and alcohol burn. This is a huge beer.

Well, more fine work from the boys at Hoppin’ Frog. Once again if anyone from the brewery reads this let me know and I’ll get your lovely beer sold in my town. Poured a lightly hazy orange colour with a thin to medium off white head. Aroma is citrus hops, caramel. Flavour is lovely juicy hops, caramel, toffee, grapefruit, peach, orange. Mildly carbonated. A American IPA no doubt. Loved it.

Bottle, Beer Moth, Manchester. Poured a vivid dark orange colour with a decent white head. Resinous hop laden beak with sweet malt and citrus notes. Similar traits unfolded in the flavour which was sweetish with a heavy dose of rich hoppy goodness alongside some tropical fruits. Fullish with some robust bitterness that got the juices flowing. Quality.

Eye: copper/brown, hazy, enormous head Nose: pine, resin, some citrusy notes, some malty-yeasty notes as well Mouth: far too hoppy, lingering bitterness from the beginning till the end, some caramel notes and some alcohol behind --- Could be great but it is completely unbalanced. This beer is mainly piney hop extract.

Certainly not living up to the hype or price. Assault on the palate not what I'd prefer in an ipa I enjoy my bitterness but I'd like some hoppy aroma with it too. It's almost like I swallowed resin after the initial malt sweetness ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

hazy copper with a thin white cap. The aroma has a sharp earthy pine nose with some lemon rind and a wee touch of cherry and bitter caramalt. The flavor is just sharp and hoppy, not really acidic but dry and very bitter with dank leafy piney hop flavors and bitter citrus notes. Not a fan.

Rated on 8-19-2010 (Bottle). This beer forms a medium sized very fizzy off-white head with a short retention, hazy orange, copper body, fizzy carbonation, and a ring of lacing. The aromas are caramel malt, citrus, pine hops, fruity, spicy, and alcohol. The taste is moderately bitter, alcohol, caramel malt, citrus, pine hops, and a hint of clove. The palate is sticky and aggressive. This beer is medium bodied. This is a beer for the hop heads! It is a sipping beer and worth trying.

Bottle into Teku glass. Beautifullllllll dare I say any more? Strong sap, pine, spicy and some citrus coming through. Sticky, warm, spicy, malt coming through, nicely bitter feel ramping up as it lengthens with a slight burn, accentuated by the beechwood bacon, burger liberally sprinked with tabasco. Extremelely nice triple IPA, would like to compare with a fresher bottle though.

Bottle: Thanks, Alex! Completely opaque, light-copper & swampy brown; muddled, murky, & topped with a sightly off-white cap that retains surprisingly well. Aroma is super sweet & super malty up front; caramel, toffee, & residual sugars with hop notes taking a back seat... Sticky citrus, pine, & florals. Warmth just brings out more malty sweetness, including mild notes of butterscotch. Taste is just as expected, malty to the core; caramel, toffee, sweet toasted bread, only with some lightly citric & earthy hops buried underneath. Sticky, coating caramel malt aftertaste. Far from undrinkable, but even farther from what I want my DIPAs to taste like... Way too much malt & sweetness, not nearly enough hoppage.
