COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hop Dam has been a long time in the works, and its design required us to build a large stainless steel hop dam for our kettle, just for this beer! It was worth all the effort, because this beer is extremely hoppy and very satisfying, using 50% more hops than our Mean Manalishi Double IPA, which was voted Best Double IPA In The World by the US Beer Tasting Championships. Hop Dam is 10% alcohol by volume, and really hoppy, with a bitterness level that is very high but refined and therefore refreshing – its like kissing a hop!! Along with all the standard hop additions, it is also mash-hopped, first-kettle-hopped, and dry-hopped!!! Hop Dam is a 100% American-style IPA, dominated by the top-rated, assertive and refined Amarillo hops, along with lots of aroma and flavor from Columbus, and Cascade, and the wonderful Summit hops – the very special dwarf hop plant picked by hand, and sought-after for its great flavor and aroma. These hops work great together, and make Hop Dam TRIPLE IPA our new standard for hoppy beers!! It will be available for only a few months, so get Hop Dam while it lasts!

Bottle, shared with Parksy and Gripp-- hazy orange-tinted gold with a bunch of medium sized particles that flood the glass at the end of the pour and remain suspended. Aroma is insane! Super fresh hop essence, unique but with familiar elements of mango, fresh peach, lychee, pine. But more than the sum of its parts, exotic even. Just so fantastic!! I could smell this all day! Palate is densely hoppy, oily, sticky with heavy tropical fruit and pine on a sweet malt base. Long long bitter bitter end. An eye-opening outstanding double IPA!!

Aroma of caramel malt, pine resin, fruits, hint of liquorice, grapefruit, lots of hops. Flavour is moderate sweet with a looooong bitter finish. Just a little boozy. Lots of intensity and complexity to this one. Interesting experience drinking this beer.

Bottle at home. Amber colour, slightly hazy, off-white nicely lacing head. Hop character is big on resinous pine and this beer is quite boozy. Additionally, it has a nicely sweet tropical fruitiness (mango, peach, grapefruit) that matches the creamy malty backbone; it’s a little citrus fruity too. Lingering bitter, resinous, oily finish. Dry too. Oily mouthfeel, big big bodied, medium carbonation. Not your average (imperial) IPA, but too bitter for my taste.

Bottle @ Three Notch’d Tasting. Amber pour with a small head. The nose is actually pretty medicinal. Herbs and loads of white onion. Caramel and bready. Onion, earthy. Strong bitter finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. Meh.

Bomber bottle to glass. This is a big beer! Dark amber, cloudy pour and creamy head. Big hops aroma. A big mouth feel and taste. Strong hops, but balanced by sweet and subtle citrus. If I had a complaint (which I don't), Hop Dam is maybe a touch sweet in the finish. The ABV is definitely there, but does not overpower. Mmmm... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
