COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hop Dam has been a long time in the works, and its design required us to build a large stainless steel hop dam for our kettle, just for this beer! It was worth all the effort, because this beer is extremely hoppy and very satisfying, using 50% more hops than our Mean Manalishi Double IPA, which was voted Best Double IPA In The World by the US Beer Tasting Championships. Hop Dam is 10% alcohol by volume, and really hoppy, with a bitterness level that is very high but refined and therefore refreshing – its like kissing a hop!! Along with all the standard hop additions, it is also mash-hopped, first-kettle-hopped, and dry-hopped!!! Hop Dam is a 100% American-style IPA, dominated by the top-rated, assertive and refined Amarillo hops, along with lots of aroma and flavor from Columbus, and Cascade, and the wonderful Summit hops – the very special dwarf hop plant picked by hand, and sought-after for its great flavor and aroma. These hops work great together, and make Hop Dam TRIPLE IPA our new standard for hoppy beers!! It will be available for only a few months, so get Hop Dam while it lasts!

Location/Date:Bottle on October 21st, 2012 Ben and Dave.

Appearance: Pours orange cloud with a lot of sediment.
Aroma: Aroma of pine, faint orange citrus.
Taste: Taste of medium bitterness, pine, resin.
Palate:Medium body, light lingering aftertaste.

Summary: I’m glad I got to try this beer, and I understand the intent, but at $20 a bottle from Norm’s it’s just not worth it. Solid IPA taste but really one note, enjoyable but not amazing.

22 oz bottle of the latest batch. Trade from a friend, thanks Daniel! Clear amber/golden copper with tiny bits of sediment floaters, nice two fingers of off-white head. Aromas of biscuit, grapefruit citrus, caramel. Tastes of grapefruit citrus, hop oils, lots of floral notes, some alcohol. Medium body with a dry and warm finish. Feels somewhat unbalanced, a bit too floral/bitter and boozy with not enough citrus for my liking.

Bue en bouteille de 66.6cl, couleur ambrée, mousse moyenne et peu d’effervescence. Nez fort sur la résine, Grosse bouche sur le pin et le sapin et la résine pointe d’alcool en fin de premičre bouche mais assez soft. A peine fumée. Le mot qui me vient quand j’ai cette bičre en bouche c’est "trop".

Bue en bouteille de 65cl. Bière ambrée orangée. Très fine mousse blanche peu persistante. Nez houblonné à mort, on sent l'alcool. Explosion au palais, gros hit d'alcool, ultra-houblonné, côté fumé en finale. Grosse corpulence. Ca tabasse bien.

Bottle to glass. Pours a deep golden orange color with an off white head. Hops, hops, and more hops! Decent floral and fruity aroma. Flavor is aggressively bitter. Long lingering into the finish. This beer is way too bitter. Loses quite a bit of the aroma and flavor of the hops.

Whew - dry and lip-puckering bitter. Very happy, but I feel like the subtle aromas of hoppy beers are lost on this monster. For me, this one falls somewhere in between their IPA and IIPA in terms strictly of my enjoyment.

Bottle. Hazy darker orange in color with an off-white head. Some citrus, wooden forresty piney notes and sweetish butterscotch in aroma. Feels very fresh and inviting. There’s also some honey kind of sweetness present, but it’s kept in order with that nice, quite aggressive bitter hoppyness. Grassy bitters and oranges mixed with piney notes in taste. Smooth mouthfeel. Later on more tropical fruityness appears together with some nice bitter punch towards the finish. Drinkability is alpha and omega here, good tasting it is.

Bottle from Cask Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico, London. A hazy orange/amber coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Hoppy, citrus, pine aroma. Tastes hoppy, malty, citrus, pine, grapefruit, some tropical fruit, sweet/bitter, rich and bloody gorgeous.

Aroma of caramel malt, pine resin, fruits, hint of liquorice, grapefruit, lots of hops. Flavour is moderate sweet with a looooong bitter finish. Just a little boozy. Lots of intensity and complexity to this one. Interesting experience drinking this beer.
