Aroma: Fresh, floral, citrusy, remniscent of vegetables (celery,
for instance). So good.

all in good interplay.

Overall: A great, (Relatively) balaced ale that strays from the

Bottle: Dirty caramel, orangish, large pillowy off-white head, nice lacing. Bright floral and citrusy nose. Soft Rye as well. Smells great! Very smooth on the tongue, citrusy, soft tropical fruit. Not brash, biting, or bitter in any way. Well, I supposed it is a little bitter. Has a bunch of sweetness and a great malt body to balance this out. Great stuff! As it warms it becomes a bit dank on the nose. Body and mouthfeel are full to moderate. Finishes clean, citrusy, hoppy, somewhat fruity, and very very JUICY!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 27, 2012 650ml bottle. Slightly cloudy orangey golden colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head of low density. Citrusy hoppy aroma with notes of tangerine, mango, passion fruit, additionally a perfumed touch comparable to fragrant/basmati rice. Taste is minimally sweet fruity, notes of grapefruit and passion fruit, malty basis with a note that must stem from the rye, bitter, minimally biting hoppy overtones; the biting part feels like a combination of hop, green pepper and lemon. Not the worst thing to happen to rice.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
22oz bomber from Capone’s purchased on Black Friday, my guess is this is the same bottle I saw back in August. Poured a pretty good looking slightly thicker orange/amber with a large frothy off white head. Aroma of rye, older wet bread, some orange and yellow grapefruits, veggies and old hops. Medium body to start that slides to the creamy fuller side along with average carboantion. Flavor isn’t as good as the aroa with notes of old rye bread, some bad fruits, rye and spice, old rotting citrus fruits. Meh this might have been far better a few months ago now it’s almost a drain pour.

bottle. slight haze to a orange beer under a medium, white head. citrus, grapefruit hoppy nose. super bitter. it actually does have a passion fruit/bubblegum tropical flavor. medium bodied. enough sweetness for balance. i get the faintest hint of sugar cookies with cinnamon, but it must some strange interplay with the rye malt. i also notice some oak or wood sometimes? a cool ipa that tastes unique in an increasingly redundant style category.

On draft at Tryst in Delray. I believe this is the first Hoppin Frog beer I’ve ever had on draft, my how things have changed in South Florida. I’ve never been fully able to pull out the rye in most IPA’s, though I do sometimes get subtle hints on the back end. This one is just a nice easy drinking IPA, through and through.
