American hops dominate this Rye IPA, creating an assertive citrus and passion fruit character. An old-world flavor from rye malt adds the perfect compliment to Goose Juice’s big, satisfying hop flavor and aroma. Originally home-brewed by our beloved brewer Goose, its wonderful combination of flavors inspired us to brew this specialty IPA.

Location/Date:Bottle on January 26th, 2013 during day 2 of Nerd Beer Epic Weekend.

Appearance: Pours a dark orange.
  Aroma: Aroma light citrus, rye.
Taste: Light medium bitterness, rye, citrus.
Palate: Medium light body, faint stickyness.

Summary: Sadly the last beer of the Nerd Beer Epic Weekend for me. A pretty solid rye style IPA, way better than the triple IPA I had from Hoppin Frog before(as a beer/ipa).

This fine version of a rye IPA has an amber/orange color and a pinkish white head. The aroma is fresh, grainy, and almost evergreen, but earthy. There’s a slight dark caramel stickiness in the nose’s finish. The mouth feel is very nice… just right, now light but still light enough to let the flavor shine. It finishes like a double IPA, but with the weight of an English IPA. There’s also a slight sourness in the finish. I’m not sure, but I think I taste lime in the finish. Hmm… neat fruitiness.

Tasty and refreshing. Definite peppery spiciness from the rye. Good balance on the hops.

Aroma: This one has a nice nose, plenty grapefruit, citrus, pine, some rye, and some spice
Appearance: This one pours a caramel color with a small of-white and minimal lace
Flavor: The taste has a little sweetness, with plenty of rye , malts, and a mid-plus bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, there’s some tingly carbonation, and a little dryness
Overall Impression:  Really solid IPA. Maybe not a top of example style, but solid. It’s almost a little sticky, but, overall, this is a more then enjoyable beer.

Poured into a true pint shaker, burnt orange hue with lasting creamy white head, chunky yeast sediment bits, smells a faint passion fruit citrus and minimal rye, juicy texture minimal carbonation, kind of like Hawaiian Punch but instead of the sugary aftertaste its got a bitterness, its good but not for $10, overall would say disappointed by lack of anything real special to say, if to say anything, a tropical citrus hop with a tad of spice

0.65 l bottle. Amber color. Aromas of lime, onion, vanilla. Taste of lime, garlic, oaky vanilla with grainy-malty backbone and strong yet soft bitterness. Soft oily palate. Weird garlicky note in taste and aroma, good soft palate. I get an impression of oak.

Bomber. A clear medium amber beer, with an average sized, frothy/creamy, lacing, mostly lasting off-white head. The aroma is lightly to moderately malty (biscuits, toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, apricot, pine needles), with notes of pepper and tropical fruits. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, silky texture, lively carbonation, rather dry and long finish with moderate bitterness, lightly alcoholic. A clean, enough balanced, with good bitterness that never turns sharp. The rye adds some nice peppery spiciness. Excellent mouthfeel.
