3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Kinz (3023) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - JUN 12, 2013
I had been excited to try this one. Poured a slightly hazy medium orange with a lasting thick head. Aroma of piney hops and gummy malts. Flavor is peppery, caramel malts, a bit of almost rubbery phenol that really detracts, and a piney hop finish. So close. But just missed. I’m probably just bummed that I’m missing the JRHB club meeting because the spouse got drafted to play volleyball tonight. But the phenol really detracted. A bit hot on the finish too.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 kramer (3909) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 7, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear copper body with a one finger frothy off-white head that fell to a thin wispy film. The nose is OK, the hops are a little less intense than I was expecting. A little grapefruit and resin from the hops, some light earthy rye, and some caramel malt. The rye is there, but I fell like it’s a little less bright and the hops don’t play all that well with it. The mix is just a little too crazy and doesn’t seem to complement each other. I think it’s trying to be too many things at the same time. Medium bodied with a bit of stickiness and fizzy prickly carbonation. Yeah, I just don’t care for the flavor profile of this one. No real brewing flaws or anything like that, it just doesn’t work for me.

Pours dark gold with white head and nice lacing. Aroma of citrus, light fruit, and bread. Taste brings out the rye and some malts as a solid backbone to the hops. Tasty and smooth.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 SlovakSniper (2195) - Candiac, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 20, 2013
