cking (727), North Canton, Ohio, USA Jun 2, 2007 Rated 2/4/07: My initial impression was just another well crafted IPA, seemed rather typical. I took my time enjoying this bomber and after a little time this beer blossomed in my imperial pint glass. Initial aroma is wonderful but it really intensifies as it warms up. An amazing bouquet of floral hops and thick malt, it’s a treat just to sniff the glass. Nice dark copper pour, real rich dark copper. Sizeable light tan head, and tons of thick lacing. Thickest creamiest mouthfeel I’ve ever had from an IPA, I heard the brewmaster is using tons of malt in his Hoppin’ Frog brews and it is evident here. Smooth taste very malty at first leading way to some nice hops both floral and fruity. A tinge of grapefruit, lemon, and orange are soon overcrowded by semi-sweet malt and some nice spicy hops. Not as bitter as some of the other top shelf IPA’s but this is one of a kind.
DeadGuyFrank (340), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA Sep 5, 2008 Hazy orange, super hopped but balanced - well made. Funny name but damn good beer - highly recommended. yespr (6373), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 5, 2008 22 lf oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a lacing white head. Aroma is mild fruity towards light citrusy and refreshing. Sweet and crisp hoppy base flavour with notes of peach and citrus very inviting and smooth. Nice and mellow into the finish with a lasting fresh hoppy citrusy base flavour. Nice one yet with a light body. jsjostar (1), , Sweden does not count Aug 30, 2008 No, it’s not overrated, but I’m a serious hoppolic. Great balanced with sweet malt. AndyReynolds (55), Wilder, Kentucky, USA Aug 26, 2008 Tried at Alefest filtered through hops on tap, thanks to 1_2many for use of a writing instrument. Aroma was very hoppy, but citrus and grass came through. The taste was better than I expected, very balanced, but still bitter. Grapefruit, pine, and hops really came out in the finish. Very refreshing. hirigalzkar (15), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 25, 2008 Bottle. Very nice citrusy aroma. The flavour was not as characteristic, but OK. Kind of watery in some way. Rather different from your standard IPA.
