Extremely rich and malty German-style lager, so intense that it’s named after our founder! Karminator Doppelbock has a traditional double-bock flavor, brewed with an over-abundance of the absolute highest quality imported Munich malt to create an irresistible toasted barley flavor, with hints of caramel & toffee. Alot of care, time, and know-how has gone into creating this complex, memorable, and majestic lager.

Bottle from the Hoppin Frog Brewery. Shared with Peter and Gail. Solid deep brown pour with an ample two-finger head. Solid lacing. Deep aroma of heavy malts, roasted nuts, toffee, and serious caramel. I thought I’d have to chew this beer before drinking. The taste was also heavy malts, roasted nuts, serious heavy breads, and caramel. Very complex beer with a finish of heavy malts. Thick, full body. Wonderful for the style.

Pours dark amber wth a tiny head. Aroma is really sweet with notes of caramel, port notes, alot of sweet ripe fruits, toffee, toasted malts, sugary, sweet malts, candy notes and some butterscotch. Taste of sweet toasted caramel malts, caramel, toffee, sweet plums and other ripe fruits in there. ALso some butterscotch. A bit too sweet for me I must say.

Bomber. Pours a deep brown, smallish white head, so-so retention and not much lacing. Nose is malty, lots of dried fruit (dates, raisins and figs) brown sugar, pumpernickel toast. Mouth is full bodied malt-forward and kinda sticky, chewy with big toffee, more of the dried fruit in the nose and toasted bread crusts, hints of molasses, maple. Malt forward eases into the malt backwards too, and a lingering finish. Let those brutal north winds blow, as Chicago dips down into the well-below-zero-range again (Chi-beria redux)... cuz this tasty dopplebock from the Buckeye State is as an apt antifreeze as any. Ribbit.
