douglas88 (1556), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Nov 7, 2009 22 ounce bottle shared by footbalm- thanks again my man! Pours a cloudy bronze color with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet citrus, earthy malts. The flavor is very nice; not a hop-bomb or overly aggressive. A fruity tropical flavor, rich malts, not aggressive but well done. Herbal. ricke (62), Malme, Sweden Nov 3, 2009 Amber color, slightly hazy, with a medium-sized off-white head that leaves a decent amount of lacings.
Lots of grapefruits and other aromas of tropical fruits. Pine-needles and caramel.
The grapefruits come of very strong in the taste as well. Quite a lot of other aromas of tropical fruits combined with a rather prominent caramel maltiness makes this one rather sweet in the mouth. Notes of pine-needles and grass. The finish is really bitter with plenty of hop resins.
Medium body, slightly sticky texture.
A good DIPA. The excessive amounts of hops and big bitterness are in constant risk of collapsing into a bittersweet mess, but in general I do believe the beer manages quite well.

(Copy of old Beer Advocate review) BierBauch (638), Cape Coral Waterfront Wonderland, Florida, USA Oct 27, 2009 22oz From TW. Hazy amber with no head. Huge sweet peachy pine aroma. Very one dimensional. Medium body lightly coats the mouth. Very bitter hop flavor and not getting much malt. Surprised this is rated so high. rajendra82 (698), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Oct 23, 2009 Popping the cap revealed a bit of a gusher in the 22 oz. bomber, but when poured, the carbonation was reasonably in check and the head was about three finger thick. The body was very cloudy, burnt umber, and quite opaque when held up to the light, which was a very unusual trait for the style. The aroma was like raw pine resin and very nose singeing, which is the way I like my Double IPAs. The taste was bitter up front with a metallic tinge, surprised with the intense caramel malts evident as a very hefty backbone, and displayed a long earthy finish. The beer felt thicker than average in the mouth with a creaminess imparted by the yeast. I picked this up at Green’s in Columbia, SC, during a recent visit, and it did not disappoint. ben4321 (952), Rockville, Maryland, USA Oct 22, 2009 Location: 22 oz bottle from Whole Foods - Bowery, 10/22/09
Aroma: The aroma is pretty powerful, lots of grapefruit, some malts, some wet grass, and resin too
Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber-orange color with a thin, somewhat bubbly head
Flavor: Really tasty sweet and bitter beer, nice hoppy, resiny-citrus flavor, some sweet caramel as well
Palate: This beer has lots of body and a nice long finish, drinks nicely, almost no booze burn
Overall Impression:
I thought this was a pretty interesting beer, I’m not sure my description of the nose does it justice, but it was the best I could come up with. There was some in there that I wasn’t quite able to describe exactly. It was kind of like wet grass and resin, but something else too. Anyway, overall this beer is really quite tasty. A really well made brew that I enjoyed quite a bit. A wonderful example of the style.
travita (1851), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 21, 2009 The look is copper, almost cloudy, and has a big great foamy beige colored head. The smell is bready, dough, hops, fruits, and pineapple. The taste is dough, frtuis, sweet, and great. Very nice. gyllenbock (238), Stockholm, Sweden Oct 21, 2009 Bottle.
Dark amber with a fairly large and thick foam.
Great aroma of tropical fruits, citrus, grapefruit. Also a lot of hops and some sweetness.
A lot of tropical fruits and grapefruit in the flavor. Also some cookies and candy. Balanced bitterness.
The body a little above average I would say. The relatively high alcohol content (8.2%) felt not at all. Long aftertaste. A nice beer! stobbe74 (655), Denmark Oct 20, 2009 Bottle, 22 fl. oz. Pours a dark amber beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is weak hops. The flavor is hops. The palate is bitter and overall this is a good beer.
