Almost no head. Rich opaque butterscotch dark orange coloring. The head is distinct but faint citrus. Thick mouthful (with no effervessence) expands smoothly into a slightly dry finish. Bitterness and hops seem to be more apparent on the tail, which is refreshing for a double IPA. I am used to being assaulted at the front of the palette. This is a nice change. Well blended alcohol for 8.2%. Mighty beer from Akron!

Bottle from Knightly Spirits. Grapefruit and pine in the nose with some resin notes as well. Pours an amber-orange color with a thick khacki head with pretty good retention. Nice heavy sticky lacing. The flavor shows more grapefruit and pine along with orange peel and a dash of lemon. The malts are light caramel but are very much secondary to the hops. Just a light tropical fruit sweetness with maybe a little honey but it’s far more dry and bitter than sweet. This is good. It’s not the biggest IIPA I’ve had by a long shot but I like how the hops dominate this one with the malts just along for support. Still, it’s too expensive and there are quite a few other high quality IIPA’s around for literally half the price.

Pour from the bottle gave a hazy copper orange hue with an off white head. Nice aromas of citrus hops. Medium body. Up front solid hoppy bitterness. Malt presence there also in not a real sweet way. Finish is bitter with not a super pleasant maltiness. Not bad.

Bottle to pint glass; pours a deep orange to amber color with a thin but ample head. Notes of grapefruit and pine really stick out, and the hop bitterness is superb. The bitterness lingers and grows more intense through the finish. Unlike many DIPAs, the emphasis seems to be on balancing the hops with malt rather than the reverse. This makes this beer seem much less sweet than the bulk of DIPAs.

Thanks to LambTaco from Reddit. Very good, super hoppy DIPA. My only criticism of this beer is that there is so much hop bitterness that it loses a bit of the more delicate hop flavors when you drink it. These more delicate notes are present, so it’s not just a bitter hop bomb, but they’re a bit overpowered, particularly in the finish. The hop aroma is citric and floral with neither note really dominating. It’s a very strong aroma. There’s a little bit of paint thinner astringency and rubbing alcohol harshness around the edges. The flavor is very bitter and, I think, dry. It’s hard to taste anything but the hops and since I can’t appreciate any malt sweetness, I’m assuming its dry. The beer is mildly difficult to drink but in a good way - well, good if you love hops, but if you don’t love hops, you’re drinking the wrong beer. The beer is darker than it really needs to be, not like you can really taste the crystal malt Although MM utilizes different hop strains, it reminds me of a lesser known beer, Iron Springs Casey Jones, another completely over-the-top hop bomb. Good stuff.

Bomber. Pours a crystalline, ferric orange with huge peachy beige head and long lasting sticky lacing. The aroma is tangerine, grapefruit, fresh Clementine orange, some floral notes, rose hips, and a very light honeyish sweetness. The flavor is a slightly tannic caramel with nice, strong, fresh hops. Grapefruit, peach, and pine dominate the hop notes; there’s not as much sweet citrus as is present in the nose. There’s a slight lemony bitterness, but the hops mostly take on a resinous texture. Sticky pine sap ushers in the finish with another dose of grapefruit and some mild toast. It leaves a sticky, lingering taffy aftertaste. Quite tasty indeed.
