3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 sfontain (673) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 4, 2013
22 oz bottle, Andersons, $7.99 I think. Apparently unfiltered, this beer pours a murky dark copper with a creamy off-white head that dissipates into a thin, sparse covering and a thin ring; no lacing. Aroma is rich, sweet, caramel, toast, hint of red berries. Flavor is almost cloyingly sweet; toffee, oak (!), orange peel, maybe vanilla. Body is full and oily, slick, light but lively carbonation. Probably a little too sweet but otherwise really nice. The barrel-aged version of this beer is in my fridge for tomorrow, and I expect it to be interesting given that this non-BA version already tastes oaked.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 jstraw (1654) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 9, 2013
Caramel-copper with modest, creamy, orange-beige head, some legs / Sweet, winey, somewhat thin nose of caramel, cider, baking spice, oak? / Full body, sweet, syrupy but very smooth & creamy, with excellent balance and heat evidence but really just adding a little winey character / Rich but mellow flavors of caramel, orange peel, apple cider, milk chocolate, toffee, cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, smoke / A real easy drinker, milkshake-like, for such a big beer.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 coolpop (1163) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - MAR 10, 2013
Bomber. Poured deep amber with a medium-sized khaki head. Aroma and flavor were toasted malt, caramel, toffee, touch of chocolate, nuts, and spiciness. Peaty -- or is that just the power of suggestion? Quite sweet, low bitterness and hop flavor. Syrupy mouthfeel.

The Scottish really like the first sip from the bomber.
AR: buttery fudge, caramel lollipop
AP:wee hazy reddish amber, wee stouthy creme beige head
F: caramel, fudgy, wee alcholic, perfume floral, rather syrupy feeling with à little dryness, wee soft but rich carbonation, medium bitterness, after à while à warming feeling - this must be strong! 8,2% - not over the 10 that I projected... Finish is warming, fudgy sweet caramel
