Rich malty flavors of caramelized and toasted grains dominate this robust Scotch ale. A hint of rye adds a crisp, scotch-like, old-world beer character, reminiscent of a simpler life from centuries ago. It’s a wee-bit heavy.

Bottle. Body-looks like still iced tea. Taste-tea, caramel, high CO2 even though there doesn’t appear to be any bubbles, light cigar, some smoke.

651 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, tiny bubbled, ivory head, with extensive lacing, over a clear dark amber copper SRM 17) body.....nose is light raisin, plum, from the malts, no hop aroma, slight esters, balance to the malts.....taste is slightly sweet, with plum, raisin tones, hits of treacle, no hops, with no bitterness on the finish....mouth feel, body light of medium, sticky, alcohol warmth present, slight tingle from the carbonation. This is a light "Wee Heavy". The malt complexity and intensity is low for the style and needs a great deal more oomph. It does not taste bad, it just is not a particularly good example of the style. Poured a light amber color with aromas of caramel, light malt, light to ask and some booze. Flavors are the same with caramel and light toast. Light booze in the aftertaste.

On tap at Parry's. Pours a dark red amber with a thin off-white head. Very thick, almost syrupy. Smells and tastes if thick malty goodness. Good carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Lazy Dog. Pours a hazy amber with very minimal off white head. Aroma of cherries with hints of booze. Taste more of raisins and dark fruit up front with ample booziness and carbonation that follows.

A little bit strange scotch, with a winey character that overcomes the more usual notes to raisins, biscuit and dark dried fruits. The aspect, reddish, is also clearer than the average scotch. However, it has a pretty nice texture that enhances the overall. Good beer, not extraordinary.

bomber with no visible date on it and purchased at a discount. Kind of wish my wife would stop watching this show about midwives so loudly... Nose is butter and toffee. Boozy. Sip adds a general maltiness and some toast. I’m going to get this way colder before my final rating. A little better, but still super sweet. Glad I didn’t pay full price.
