COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark, robust and silky-smooth, with many flavors of roasted, toasted and caramel malts. Porter is an old-world beer style, so popular that it helped start the industrial revolution. Taste the history.

This one was better than expected - a nice treat. Pours very dark brown, close to black, with a crimson hue and a nice dark tan head. The aroma is very mocha with heavy chocolate, roasty malt and smooth vanilla woodiness. Medium smooth body that is thick and oily with clean sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with lots of charred malt, bittersweet chocolate, ice cream malt and an overall smoothness. The finish is charred and bitter. A very well constructed porter.

Bottle. High creamy and long lasting light brown head. Pitch black body. Lovely coffee cococoa aroma with notes of roasted malt. Barley malt and cocoa flavor, creamy smooth and round. No hops bitterness. Low carbonation, short aftertaste. Impressive for a beer with such a relatively low alcohol percentage.

#700. Deep black with a nice beige head. Roasted malty aroma with toffee, nuts, molasses, and lightly sour. Body is a little thin, but makes for an easier drinking porter. Light roasted, malts, chocolate, molasses, ripe fruit, nuts, and awesomeness. A smooth, easy to drink, tasty porter. I’d go to this one on a regular basis if they shipped to Japan.

Thanks to Alexsdad06 for this cool extra! Pours brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, dark russian rye bread, macadamia nuts, toffee and vanilla. Really pleasant nose. Tastes a little more astringent, but only slight with plenty of dark chocolate, coffee, toasted rye, nuts and toffee. Like the label says, the mouthfeel is pretty silky, almost like an oatmeal stout, but it could be a little bit more creamy. It’s a little on the oily side. Overall though, this is really pleasing and has a lot of roasty and dessert flavors to offer while being nice and drinkable.

Bottle. A deep red, almost black beer with a big beige head. The aroma and taste is dusty and of roasted malt/coffee/chocolate, some rye bread and dark fruits. Medium to full body with a dry, coffee finish.

22oz bomber.
Pours a very dark brown, near black in color. A nice two inch head forms on the pour. Smell is highly roasted malts. Taste is a lot more of the roasted malts with just a hint of something sweet as well. Mouthfeel is full and creamy. Not sure "silky" is the word I would use to describe it, but still a damn good porter. HF is making some very good beers. If they could only up the complexity a bit they would be right there with the best.
