Retorp (2155), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 Courtesy of lb4lb. The aroma is very concentrated sweet dark fruits, alcohol, dusty earth, mild chocolate and some kind of spicy hop notes. The body is flat black and holds a thin tan head. The first sip offers, again, very sweet dark fruits like blackberry, cherry and blueberry. There is also ample chocolate, mild roast and the finish is looong and sweet. Decently tasty brew, but sweeter than I expected.
notalush (2077), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Oct 8, 2008 Pours a dark brown, with a fairly thick and lasting lace - aroma of roasted coffee, chocolate, black cherry, berry-like character, a bit of vanilla and brown sugar - very smooth, creamy mouthfeel, with a medium body - a little abrasive up front, but it smooths out fast - flavors of chocolate, coffee bitterness, dark fruit and blueberry - a little bit of tobacco and leafy character - a little doughy on the back end - it’s a solid porter, but it isn’t one that I am going to drop 9 bucks on a bomber of again any time soon. TomDecapolis (2481), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 6, 2008 22 oz bottle. Pours a deep almost blackish brown with these wonderful ruby red hues when held to the light....but the head was dissapointing - small bubbly tan that didn’t leave much lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, caramel, dark fruits, some toasted nuts, cherries, touch of vanilla and the slightest hint of coffee. Flavor is actually considerably different. Almost harsh roastiness, light smoke, dark chocolate, burnt coffee, slight nutty/toasted malt thing going on and some moderate hop bitterness. A little thin. larsniclas (3034), Gothenburg, Sweden Oct 5, 2008 Bottled at 3 små rum.
Black with a small, beige head.
A lot of milky chocolate and dry cocoa.
Roasted with a dry finish. Rune (1811), Tromsø, Norway Oct 5, 2008 Bottle bought at Gl. Strand Øl & Vin, Copenhagen. Slowly fading beige head resting on top of a deep, dark brown body. Roasted dark malts to the nose. Bittersweet flavours of anise, dark malts, sweet cocoa and some citrus hints. Very smooth, silky and gentle palate. Medium bodied (shared with Eva, hotel room, Copenhagen 19.09.2008). bu11zeye (3780), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 4, 2008 (22oz bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, and light coffee. Flavor of chocolate, cereal, caramel malt, and toasted bread.
