wickedpete (514), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA May 6, 2008 Thanks to Mike for this one. Black body, tan head, no lacing. Aroma is chocolate and fruity. Flavor has a bitter baker’s chocolate, and a bit of raspberry towards the end. Very nice.
SuzyGreenberg (781), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 8, 2008 22 oz. bottle - thanks to fiver29 for the trade; pours dark brown cola and clear along the edges; almost no head and crisp, roasty aromas; nice level of sweetness too; medium body with very slight syrupy texture as it warmed up; some coffee, lots of nuttiness; no surprises or tricks, just a straight up knock down porter DragonStout (1102), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 6, 2008 Coursey of Beervirgin! Pours black as night with a thin tan head. The nose is of sweet coffee and chocolate with some roastedness.Flavor is of coffee, nuttiness, chocolate and some crispness.Mouthfeel was crisp and silky as it went down.Finished of nicely with a small tingling in my cheeks.Thanx Dawn!! thegreenrooster (1433), St.louis, Missouri, USA Jul 4, 2008 Pour is a black with no head at all. Aroma is a decent coffee with some dark chocolate. Flavor is much of the same but it grew on me the more I drank of it. Lots of roasted dark malt with a nice bakers chocolate and a bit of crips hops. Fairly decent beer and much better at room temp than cold out of the fridge. michael-pollack (1297), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 1, 2008 22oz. Bottle: Aroma of coffee, cream, roasted malts, chocolate, dust, and a touch of piney hops. Poured very dark brown/black in color with a small brown head that disappeared. Opaque. No lacing. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of candi sugar, chocolate, roasted malts, cream, and a touch of piney hops. Medium body. Thin texture. Soft carbonation. Sweet, sugary finish. redlem (1087), Illinois, USA Jun 27, 2008 First, seemed more of a stout than a porter. High amount of roasted coffee notes accompaniedwith the bitterness associated with coffee. The issue that sticks with me is I get no chocolate in this beer and that is what I use to differentiate stouts and porters. Still pours an opaque brown with a medium tan head. Aroma and taste are of bitter roasted malts. One dimensional and becomes boring.
