bottle thanks to muckjoe, pours light hazy yellow......very light with a thin white head. Raspberry jam aroma. Sweet raspberry juice and a thin pale malt background. Ends dry with a clean/boring finish. Really not my thing.

Light amber body with a filmy head and spotty lacing. Black berry and raspberry in the aroma with some pale malt and medicine. Light bodied and sticky sweet with a real empty finish. Cough syrup, concentrated berry juice flavor. Not very good.

Thanks to Brigadier. Hazy gold, thin white head, spotty lace. Aroma of fresh raspberries and a pile of bubblegum. Flavor is artificially sweet, a lot of fruit flavored bubblegum. Isolated the berry flavors are nice, but the overall impression is cloying. Hard to find the beer behind the fruit. Thin body, somewhat husky-wheat element on the palate.

Bomber thanks to kryptic. Pours a amber color with a medium white head. The aroma is quite nice; a mix of caramel and toasted malts and loads of rich berries and fruit. The flavor is OK, too sweet perhaps; Splenda and caramel, like a cola almost- artificial. A very thin mouthfeel. Overall, drinkable and nice to try.

Late June/Early July 2008: Hoppin’ Frog Smashin Berry Ale has a champagne-like color and level of carbonation and is slightly hazy (chill haze?). Pop the cab off, pour the beer, and step about 3’ away. From there is smells like a mixed beerry wine cooler. Closer up it smells VERY fruity with what smells like fresh raspberries and blueberries. It has a sweet, sugary flavor with some underlying wheat malt. It kind of tastes like weak Capt’n Crunch Mixed Berries. This beer has a medium-body and feels soft in the mouth. Overall it’s okay, but the berry seems a bit too artifical.

1 pint 6 fl. oz. bottle from Rozi’s in Cleveland, Ohio. Rating #44 for this beer.

Clear pale golden color with a medium sized white head. Strong aroma of mixed berries, like berry bunch, cherries. Smooth from start to finish. Light cherry flavor, refreshing. Fruity flavor with minimal sweetness and tang. Light carbonation up front.

Thanks Jason for sharing this beer from the Ohio crew. The beer pours to a plastic airplane glue body with a thin white head. The aroma is raspberry preserves and pale malts. The flavor is pretty vile. Raspberries and nasty malts. Like a bad berry weiss. The palate is sugary and sweet and icky.

Thanks the the Ohio guys for this! Poured medium golden with a rather nice cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up a lovely dose of raspberry preserves and strawberry over some fruity meat and pale malts.. I really dug the aroma here. The flavor had pale malts and berry meat at the core with raspberry preserves and seeds surrounding.. balance wasn’t really there, but the components were OK. Lighter-bodied on the palate with relatively fresh berry character.. tacky around the edges. Not a very good beer, but drinkable.
