COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Introducing new Smashing Berry Ale! It’s rich and complex, with an assertive, satisfying berry character - more than most fruit beers.

bottle from puddintane this will complete all the hoppin frogs for me: pours an extremely light hay colour very champagne like with a quick white head. aroma starts as an overly sweet berry almost like snow cone syrup, but behind that there does lie some malt and a hint of bread. the flavour is like watered down cough syrup the fruit is sweet and syrupy and the malts are completely deadoned. the palate is left sticky and not fullfilled. i love hoppin frog but they need to stay away from the fruit.

22 oz bottle

I found this at the local store. Figuring that it had to be worth a shot I picked up a bottle for $6.99. In hindsight that might be a little overpriced if supplies weren’t so expensive. Even so I’m not likely to pick this in favor of a few other standbys. It’s not bad but overall leaves just a little bit to be desired. If you are a completionist for Hoppin’ Frog beers give it a try. If not try to split a bottle with friends.

Aroma / Appearance - The peach colored clear body sparkled in the sunlight. A short lived thin head disseminated raspberry vinegerette and Fruit loops into the open air. Not very complex it wasn’t long before things settled into predictability.

Flavor / Palate - The fluid mouthfeel was thicker than I expected it to be without being cloying. The taste of fruit loops is stronger than the vinegerette which is not evident at all. It tastes like a slightly alcoholic version of Vitamin Water or Listerine. I’m not likely to try this again even though it was a nice change of pace.

Courtesy of Mreusch. Poured hazy yellow with a bubbly white head. Aroma of berries. Great smell. The flavor didn’t really hold up to expectations. Not as much berry as the nose.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with ogglethorp (thanks!). Poured a lighter yellow color with a large sized white head. Aromas of berry-liciousness and a little fruity. Tastes of the same with some wheaty/graininess. Berries definitely dominate. Sweet. Like drinking a sweet berry candy. You have to be in the mood for this one!

Bottle from nolankowal on 3/7/08. Lots of berry aroma. Somewhere between coolaid and fruit loops and cough syrup. Pretty nice. Medium body. Leans a bit sweet. Probably popular with the ladies..

Bottle thanks to miketd: Pours a transparent golden with a thin ring of spotty white head. Nice aroma of fresh strawberries and blueberries. Body starts about average with some mild fructose sweetness and light grainy maltiness before a dull, candy-like finish. Needs more body and balance, but has some decent fruit character.

Pours a ligher amber color with a pink tone to it with a pink head. Aroma is strong of berries, mostly raspberry, and not much else. Berry flavor dominates but does have a slight backbone of some malts on the finish. It’s ok for a fruit beer.

Bottle: Pours a clear pale amber color with a pinkish white head. Aroma, raspberry and strawberry, some peach notes. Flavor, strawberry and raspberry, lots of sweet fruity notes, but it’s kinda thin.

Bottle. This beer was kind of a let down. Aroma was pretty berry overall but not much else really came through. Overall seemed more like a juice than anything else. Didnt taste bad at all but not what im looking for in a fruit beer.

Draught at 69 Taps. Orange color with small white head and no lacing. Sweet berry flavor and aroma dominate, with little else going on. Still good but pretty ordinary.
