COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sweet Evil BBW is fermented with both British and Belgian yeasts to create a memorable smoothness for this Belgian-style barley wine-style ale. Sweet malt flavors will become smoother and rich dark fruit characters will build with time to add a wonderful complexity and depth of flavor

Barwa miedziano-bursztynowa. W aromacie rodzynki, winogrona, miód, wanilia. W smaku dochodzą jeszcze cytrusy, biszkopty i po ogrzaniu bakalie. Słodkie, likierowe. Alkohol świetnie ukryty.

Nice extra from flandersned-thanks! Always wanted to try a belgian style barley wine style ale. First rule: If you have to use the word ’style’ twice in the deScription, you probably shouldn’t brew it. About 18 months old. Nose is sweet caramel, some vanilla. Caramel flavors, with some dates, dark dried fruit. Boozy even though it’s still single digits...warms on the way down. Very cloyingly sweet. Sweetness over the top for me.

Bottle. Sensoric. Clear amber/reddish with tiny, white head. Almost none head lacing. At first quite noticable candy aroma, some dark fruits, little spicy. The taste is sweet, very sweet thru the whole of degustation with almost none of hoppy aroma. Medium to full body, sticky texture, average carbonation, finish is nothing more than sweet. In general sweet, vonius barley wine, but highly drinkable and even not boring.

Bottle from Bierkompass, bought in March 2014. Clear reddish/amber with a small head. Sweet aroma and taste of malt, dried fruit, toffee, resin and light earth. Some warming alcohol in the finish.

Caramel, apple, raisin, and alcohol in the aroma. Flavor is very, very sweet, with maple syrup, apple, and dark fruit. A little drying alcohol in the finish, but not enough to overcome the massively sweet taste. Certainly different and not terrible, but I think if they’d be better served to tone this down a little, or at least sell it in smaller bottles (mine was a 22 oz. bomber).

December 23, 2014 - bottle from Binnys, think this is a 2012 bottle. Relatively clear dark orange pour with some head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. Aroma was sweet malt, dark fruit and touch of spice. Taste was super sugary sweetness, some dark fruit and finishes with a bit of the spice. Smooth, creamy and full bodied.

Poured from a 2 year old bottle obtained from the brewery. Aroma is a yummy caramel brown sugar and booze. Appearance is a red amber with a 1 finger light tan head that vanishes quickly. Taste is well balanced with dark fruits caramel and a boozy presence. Palate is like drinking a cognac with a slight fizz. Overall an excellent beer but I recommend aging it two years or so. Cheers!

Poured from an aged 2 year old bomber into a Hoppin Frog snifter an slightly cloudt deep amber with a head that left quickly. Aroma is brown sugared dark fruits. Flavor is phenom! Had a couple of years ago and liked but age makes this brew exquisite. Think a caramelized prune with a touch of citrus to balance the sugar. Smooth to the mouth. Faint funk here says this is not your typical American Barleywine. Fred makes some amazing brews and this is definitely one when aged for awhile.

Nocturne (1784) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - OCT 1, 2014
650ml bottle. Fairly bright clear copper shade. Thin head. Really overtly fruity on the nose at first, and perhaps not in a good way. Also a darker, smokier malt presence crashing against yeast. Taste is brown sugar, toffee, notably sweet even for a barley wine. Syrupy mouthfeel. A better idea on paper than in reality but not totally without merit.
