COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The release of our Turbo Shandy Citrus Ale is around mid June. Born from European tradition, our Shandy is a refreshing combination of lemon and light malt flavors. Unlike traditional shandys, Turbo Shandy, revs it up a couple of notches with a high test, full flavored approach as only Hoppiní Frog can do.

more than anything this reminds me of a citrus soda. However, this is not a downside on the beer itself, while it doesnt have much carbonation and very little head, it brings a nice crisp sweet flavor with a citrus bang to it. very refreshing.

The aroma is lemony/citrusy with malt and candy. The appearance is yellow with no head. The taste is like the aroma and tastes like malt with lemon drops. The palate is smooth despite low carbonation. Overall a nice beer. I like it.

(22oz bottle) Pours a hazy pale yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of lemon, wheat, and orange. Flavor of orange, lemon, and vanilla wafers.

Murky gold color with a thin whisp of a white head that disappeared entirely. This smells like Squirt and lemonade. This tastes nothing like a beer. It reminded me more of a gin and Squirt cocktail than a fruit beer. Light and refreshing with a nice grapefruit juice finish. Very nice summer beer.

UPDATED: APR 23, 2011 Lemon coloured body, no head, active carbonation. Middling or less mouthfeel. Its a decent lemonade, the taste has some dish soapyness to it. Not too sweet, but some residual malts. Nothing special, but worth a glass for drinkability.Neutral aroma..

Bomber. Pouring lightly hazy, with a medium golden amber hue, the body shows absolutely no head or lacing. Even a vigorous second pour canít conjure up anything more than a few clear bubbles. The nose is off-putting, bordering on disgusting, coming across as a fake, syrupy, sugar laden orange-aide more so than a beer. Lemon dish soap comes to mind. Flavors resemble those of Tang, or some other artificial, sugary citrus drink. A sugary, syrupy palate is made worse by the lacking carbonation. There are just no redeeming qualities here. Itís an awful idea, compounded by awful execution. Just a horrible beer.....one of the worst Iíve ever had.

Reviewed from notes. Tasted from bottle. Pours light golden with no head. The nose is sprite "lemon and lime" with a hint of bread malt. The taste is not as sweet as sprite, but along the same lines. The lemon acidity is nice and refreshing. The body is light with very heavy carbonation and a long lemon finish.

Bomber pours clear gold with really no head at all. It smells like various citrusy orange like notes from sharp to sugary sweet. Interesting, it tastes like sweet orange grapefruit soda and essentially looks like it too. After it warms a tad faint notes of floral and spicy hops are noticed helping to delineate it from a sea of orange soda. This doesnít really seem like beer and is extremely, dangerously so, drinkable for the ABV.

I understand why someone like, say, Leinenkugelís makes a bottled shandy, something quick for young men to buy their girlfriends who "donít really like beer" but why on earth would Hoppiní Frog? "Hey, letís make an expensive beer of the type that people who buy expensive beer wonít like!" It just doesnít make sense but, then again, I got curious and bought it so who knows. I will say this is somewhat better than the typical bottled shandy, which is a whole different thing than saying itís good. Itís drinkable. It tastes pretty much like Country Time lemonade but is neither too sweet nor too sour to prevent rapid imbibing if thatís what youíre into. The carbonation is really nice for what this is, gentle but brisk, too. I doubt I will drink this again but Iím glad my curiosity has been satisfied.

Had this at the Grand Tasting during RBSG. Pours a hazy soft gold. Great lemon and soft wheat aromas. Smells awesome, like lemonheads. Sweet candy, lemonheads again. Sweet tang, soda like. Tasty.
