1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bomber. Pouring lightly hazy, with a medium golden amber hue, the body shows absolutely no head or lacing. Even a vigorous second pour can’t conjure up anything more than a few clear bubbles. The nose is off-putting, bordering on disgusting, coming across as a fake, syrupy, sugar laden orange-aide more so than a beer. Lemon dish soap comes to mind. Flavors resemble those of Tang, or some other artificial, sugary citrus drink. A sugary, syrupy palate is made worse by the lacking carbonation. There are just no redeeming qualities here. It’s an awful idea, compounded by awful execution. Just a horrible beer.....one of the worst I’ve ever had.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Reviewed from notes. Tasted from bottle. Pours light golden with no head. The nose is sprite "lemon and lime" with a hint of bread malt. The taste is not as sweet as sprite, but along the same lines. The lemon acidity is nice and refreshing. The body is light with very heavy carbonation and a long lemon finish.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber pours clear gold with really no head at all. It smells like various citrusy orange like notes from sharp to sugary sweet. Interesting, it tastes like sweet orange grapefruit soda and essentially looks like it too. After it warms a tad faint notes of floral and spicy hops are noticed helping to delineate it from a sea of orange soda. This doesn’t really seem like beer and is extremely, dangerously so, drinkable for the ABV.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
I understand why someone like, say, Leinenkugel’s makes a bottled shandy, something quick for young men to buy their girlfriends who "don’t really like beer" but why on earth would Hoppin’ Frog? "Hey, let’s make an expensive beer of the type that people who buy expensive beer won’t like!" It just doesn’t make sense but, then again, I got curious and bought it so who knows. I will say this is somewhat better than the typical bottled shandy, which is a whole different thing than saying it’s good. It’s drinkable. It tastes pretty much like Country Time lemonade but is neither too sweet nor too sour to prevent rapid imbibing if that’s what you’re into. The carbonation is really nice for what this is, gentle but brisk, too. I doubt I will drink this again but I’m glad my curiosity has been satisfied.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had this at the Grand Tasting during RBSG. Pours a hazy soft gold. Great lemon and soft wheat aromas. Smells awesome, like lemonheads. Sweet candy, lemonheads again. Sweet tang, soda like. Tasty.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. The beer smells exactly like lemonade. The taste is identical with a ton of sweet lemons and not too much else. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not sure how this compares to other shandy’s, but it tastes like lemonade. Since I like lemonade, it gets a good score.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a light golden with thin white head. Smells like a lemon/lime gatorade to me. Taste of lemon/lime and citrus. Not terribly sweet in the finish actually. Very refreshing, probably couldn’t drink too much of this though.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a lasting ring of off-white head with a pale, yellow body. Smells like Five-Alive. Taste is the same. Lemon, orange, limeade. Awesome and refreshing. Slightly sticky finish.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
(22oz bomber thanks to blutt59) clearish yellow with very little head. Nose of lemonade, lemon zest, sugar and fresh citrus. Taste of cane sugar, lemon zest, simple syrup, with soft carbonation and a sweet linger. I think I rated this too hard because it was honestly pretty good for a shandy.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle shared by blutt59. Light golden pour with little head. Aroma is sugarless lemonade. Taste is vintage 1980’s wine coolers. Feels like my second trip in a time machine (the first one thanks to Mar). I love Hoppin Frog beers, but this is not their best effort.
