Sample at the brewpub on 8/7/10. Clear red/amber pour with a medium beige head. Caramel and pale malt nose with lemon, smoke and some hop. Caramel and smoke flavor up front with a bit of sweetness before a bitter hop finish. My notes say it was a "snappy" hop finish. I have no idea what the hell that means.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours copper with a modest beige head and a smoky aroma. There is a rich smoked malt flavor, very nicely hopped with a dry bitter finish.

Growler brought in by Mike and Janet. Rating #6. Dark amberish color with a little gold thrown in . Light smokey aroma, the rye was very noticeable as well . Very smooth, more light smokiness and another flavor I just can’t put my finger on, very interesting , but also very enjoyable (in small amounts). (1214)

Draft at the brewpub. Aroma of caramel malt and floral hop. Good amber color with a substantial, creamy off-white head. Smooth medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is pretty roasted, and there’s some smoke. Pretty hoppy. Finish is roasted, lightly smoked and well bittered. Lots of flavors, and it’s still refreshing.
