COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Total Eclipse Black Ale has been described as similar to a light, dry stout. Characterized by its distinctive hop aroma and rich, black color, Total Eclipse redefines the way you think about a dark ale. Brewed at a low temperature to create a refreshingly dry finish, Total Eclipse uses only the finest two row malted barley and hops grown in the great Pacific Northwest. This combination results in a clean, crisp, hand-crafted experience.

Dark pour with no real head to speak of. Lightly roasty and sweet with a bit of a dry finish if I remember correctly. Not bad, nothing wrong with it - just not anything to write home about.

bottle, thanks baerwaldt. an older bottle so no surprise that it was lacking carbonation, very close to black; aroma of nutty malt and cocoa powder; some red berry flavours and more nut, light sweetness and still a good hit of bitterness

Sample at SF Beer Week Opening Gala 2014. (my first one from this brewery) Almost black with a small head. Aroma and taste of light roasted malt, grapefruit, some pineapple and coffee. The finish was dry and bitter.

22oz bottle, from Jungle Jim’s in Eastgate. Shared with local raters. Very dark brown / red color. Clear around the edges. Thin khaki head. Couple bits of lace. Bigger body. Soft, smooth carbonation, dry finish. Moderate bitter taste. Light sweet. Nice earthy hop, some cocoa, moderate roast, light coffee. Solid hoppy stout.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt and hop aroma. Medium to heavy chocolate sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a very good beer that exceeded my expectations.
