JorisPPattyn (4247), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 24, 2008 Draught. Marks for Appearance are an average, as beer was sampled in weak artificial light after dark. Coffee and cream, and - sorry - vomit. Coffee, rather sweet (maybe after all those IPA’s...). But there’s definitely some retronasal sweetness, molasses. Medium bodied at best, quite carbonated. Aftertaste is burnt-bitterish. Ho-hum coffeestout.
papajohn (978), San Diego, California, USA Jul 13, 2008 22 oz bottle from Holiday Wine CellarJet black with ruby tint and a medium light tan head. Aroma of black coffee and dark chocolate. Flavor is lightly burnt black coffee with some dark chocolate, a little smoke and a strong bitter coffee/bakers chocolate finish. Medium body is creamy with moderate carbonation. Illini08 (504), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jun 29, 2008 Dark pour with no real head to speak of. Lightly roasty and sweet with a bit of a dry finish if I remember correctly. Not bad, nothing wrong with it - just not anything to write home about. barleyPops (1057), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Jun 22, 2008 this bottle has been stuck in the back corner of my beer fridge for... a while. I think I got it in trade from Saarlander, thanks Aaron. a decent stout, but nothing to really separate it from all the others. pours a very dark brown without much head or lacing. flavor was roasty chocolate with a quick finish. ~ This is decent. Not my favorite. Oakes (6793), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 15, 2008 Dark brown. Light chocolate aroma with a hint of fudge. Somewhat thin body with roast and chocolate. Vague nuttiness. Quick finish. I’d like a bit more residual sugar to round out the body and bring some of the roastier, more chocolatey notes to the fore.
