COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Alligator Ale is a rich mahogany colored ale with a surprisingly smooth finish. This beer is perfectly balanced with flavors of dark malts and hops.

Poured a dark brown, medium bodied, with a thick, foamy light brown head. Smelled of toasted malts and some light chocolate. Pretty standard porter aromas. The flavor actually wasnt too bad. Actually had some decent body to it, with a malty chocolatey flavor. Some light roast backed it up. Drinks fairly well actually, almost certainly Hops best brew.

20 ounce draft at the Boynton Beach, FL location. The best choice at Hops $3.49

Shockoe festival Richmond VA-Draft: Weak charred oak aroma. Black color, thin yellow head. Like the Hoptoberfest, this too tasted of cream corn. Finish is smoky.

Aroma was full of buttery daicetyl, haven’t experienced a beer like this sense England. Now I can handle a little bit of butteryness in a porter, but this was awful with mixed with the hop profile. just plain awful

12oz mug at the Manchester, CT location. Pours mahogany with a thin tan head. Smells chocolatey with hints of peppery hops. Taste is watery and unpleasant with some chocolate notes. I ended up sending this one back. A drainpour to say the least.

Draft... West Palm Beach location... Clear, almost black, ruby ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. Subtle milk chocolate aroma. Malty flavor with moderate sweetness, but thin and easily balanced by the minerally, moderately bitter hops. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with restrained carbonation. Short, watery, mild chocolate finish. A bit too thin and well-balanced to really be "my kind of porter", but nicely constructed nonetheless. Hops seems to be stingy with the barley.

Draft sampler at the brewpub in Sanford, FL. Poured a clear dark brown color with a medium white fizzy head that diminished slowly with fair lacing. Medium toasted malty aroma. Medium body. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of average duration.

Dry and bitter porter with a light body, basic flavors of roasted coffee and chocolate, almost no flavor in the finish. Certainly drinkable, especially when you consider that it’s only 2.50 for a glass.

Draught. One of the few offerings form the folks at Hops. Dark copper pour. Aroma of salt and coffee. Nice taste of caramel malts and slightly bitter aftertaste. Very thin head.

Draught. Pours a decent dark, dark brown with a small tan head. The aroma is of burning chocolate, coffee, with some mild soy sauce. This has a very similar flavor profile to piece of solid dark chocolate. It starts out mildly sweet and finishes bittersweet and slightly drying. This is by a very large margin my favorite beer at Hops Grillhouse. My only problem with this is its thinness for the style.
