4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Leighton (4100) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 8, 2012
Tap at the brewpub, Berlin. Pours hazy, red-brown with a foamy, cream head. Dark bread, toast, and a bit of cocoa in the nose. Delicious flavor, mild roasted toast, tasty cocoa and dark chocolate, some burnt wood and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Clean and balanced finish, with rich toast, burnt caramel, mild leaves and earth, dry cocoa. Very impressive beer. Yes, I’m quite impressed.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 EithCubes (3340) - GERMANY - NOV 24, 2011
Tap at the pub. Ruby-brown body with a creamy, rocky beige/tan head. Lightly roasty nose, mouth brings out dark chocolate, light nuts, and beautiful, sultry burned notes. Just delicious roastiness here, edging even to coffee. Toffee, too, and you could’ve fooled me by calling it a brown porter. Very full medium body because of a very full carb. Low sweetness, low bitterness, hops leaching out at the end, love it. Excellent.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 kuphish (352) - Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA - NOV 23, 2011
On draft at the brewery. Hazy, brown body with a thick, rocky, off-white head. Lightly bready aroma - crust, cracker and some raisin. Nice light roast in the flavor with faint chocolate. Good toasty presence and raisin notes. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Balanced towards the malt, but the bitterness keeps it in check. Faint roasty finish. Delicious!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mattphilips (747) - Budapest, HUNGARY - OCT 18, 2011
Hausbrauerei Hops & Barley, Berlin. Végre egy, a megszokottól eltérő berlini Dunkel. Sötétbarna szín, krémes piszkosfehér hab. Illata erősen pörkölt malátás, aszalt gyümölcsös és kissé kávés. Íze is erősen pörkölt malátás, fekete kenyeres, kávés és füvesen komlós, keserédes. Közepesen testes, ízes és tartalmas Dunkel, na végre.

Merkwürdig säuerlich-malziger Antrunk, sehr eigen, etwas muffig. Herb-röstmalzig werdend, noch leicht säuerlich, kernig. Abgang hopfig-malzig-herb, die Säuerlichkeit ist nunmehr verschwunden.
Test vom 11.10.2008, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 10,9,8,9,-,9 - 8,94
