draft. chestnut brown with faint haze. simple and straight-forward nut oil and toasted grain nose and flavor with red apple and plum esters. lightly minerallic / starchy, mostly sweet but tempered by doughy yeast and mild hop German-like hop bitterness. good attenuation, texture is mostly soft, carbonation mostly creamy and round. decent.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2014 Pours medium brown color with small head. Smell is toasty, a but nutty, bready. Taste is toasty, caramel, nutty, and crisp with a nice amount of hops. I was pretty surprised by this. Quite good, very drinkable and I picked up a 6 pack.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2014 Bit of a watered down, flat taste up front before some bitterness from the hops kick in. I donít think itís a great beer but I find myself reaching for it as a session beer so in reality I enjoy it more than it appears.

This extremely dark brown-colored brew with a slightly reddish hue. The aroma has a slightly lager aroma, but is well balanced with the sweetness of the caramel malts and gentle roasted malts. Itís really a gorgeous beer, is very German-like, and an amazing Alt. Flavor is more of the same, and very, very smooth, with a perfect palate. Iím so impressed that I almost canít describe it. Itís perfect, really. Itís slightly roasted, but (as I said) itís more of the same characteristics of the aroma... but you get the benefits of actually feeling it in your mouth. Itís smooth, silky, soft, and just an incredible beer. This is so much better on tap than in a can. I kept being tempted to drink it as a summer/lawnmower beer, but itís just a little too heavy for that purpose (at least in Texas).

Can:   Deep mahogany, large frothy sandy head, nice lacing.   Nutty nose, a bit bready, thankfully not really grainy or soily.   Nice malty background on the tongue, nutty, pale breadiness, clean, with a nice smooth and hefty mouthfeel.   I am not much a fan of Alts, but this beer is great!   So many have this grainy and/or soily/earthy aspect.   This doesnít.   Its clean, pale breadiness, nutty, with a semi-sweet maltiness.   Great stuff!   Thanks Bill for this unexpected gem!

Can shared by Dogbrick at Septoberfest V: Septoberfest Rises on 9/29/12. Clear copper in color with a thick off-white head. Malty and caramelly nose with lager yeast notes. Flavor of caramel malt with lager yeast character before a nutty finish.

Not a big fan of the Altbier style, but this one is solid. The malt quality seems good, along with the carbonation and head.

This brew pours a dark brownish-amber color with a medium foamy off-white head that dissipates steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Caramel malt and mild hops in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, caramel and lightly bitter hops. The finish is sweet with a grainy malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

12 oz. can from a buddy in Texas- thanks, Bryan! Pours a deep amber color with a big, rocky taupe head. Aroma of toasted malts, nuts, earth, leaves, dust, and sweet bread. Flavor of toasted malts, faint roast, nuts, brown sugar, tobacco, and sweet bread. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a toasty, earthy mouthfeel. Nice alt.

Pint glass at Flix- served a transparent brown color with a maroon tint, 2.5mm white head that did lace very well. Aroma of a slightly roasted malt, various nuts, and toffee. Hits the mouth with a light-medium body, malt does have a very slight roast to it, mild sweet sting in the middle, finish is whole, lasting, and complete. íBout time I had a fín beer...
